Error – The 2016 Super Rugby finals system is designed for an African winner

It needs to be pointed out here that there is an error in the understanding of how the existing tournament structure was determined.

Clarification: Andy Marinos was not CEO of SANZAAR when the format and structure of the 2016 Super Rugby was determined. The decision on the tournament structure was made by the Executive Committee that comprises two representatives from each of the four incorporated Unions: Australia, Argentina, New Zealand and South Africa. All these stakeholders were in agreement on the tournament structure. It should also be noted that the Jaguares or Sunwolves could have been Conference winners and therefore there would have been a quarter-final in Japan or Argentina. This may well be the case in the future.
