Thanks, James. It’s a great article…. sometimes the point of view from a ‘rugby wife’ is completely different (and very eye-opening) from that of the players.

Thank you so much for the lovely article. One that I can keep for our three beautiful children to read. Off the field my husband Scott is the kindest, most caring, softly spoken, big friendly giant on the planet. During his career, he raised more than $50,000 for Camp Quality and his trademark sideburns always adorned his face because the ‘sick kids’ loved them…. the things you don’t hear in the media, huh?
On the field he was a fierce, intelligent and relentless warrior. He would spend hours studying the opposition and his line out plays before each game. He wasn’t a show pony, he wasn’t a big dog, he just loved rugby and the battle. On Anzac Day this year, we sat with our war veteran neighbour, who told Scott that every time he went into battle in Afghanistan it was the players like Scott that made him fight harder for our country. This is everything.
Oh…. and just a couple of things…
like the many things the media don’t report there is a lot more to the Quokka story and there was also no animal cruelty involved… and he was actually stretchered off in the Commonwealth Games, put into an induced coma for more than 24hrs and when I arrived at the hospital I was given the impression he had died in the ambulance, so I am not sorry for jumping the fence that day, and I would do the same tomorrow because I am married to one of the greatest humans on Earth, not just a magnificent rugby player.
