100% he shouldn’t tone down expectations etc. But also no need to avoid the hard media questions, he was right to ask for new questions if the old ones were correctly understood and reported.

to me it seems like he was having a hard day (prob from the mark davis thing) and didn’t want to be there.

'Give yourself upper cuts': Eddie furious at journos after 'worst press conference I've ever had'

Live by the sword die by the sword Eddie. The truth is he doesn’t want the heat on some of those decisions and the Mark Davis one has caught him left field.

EJ likes the media when he is using it to play mind games with the opposition.

'Give yourself upper cuts': Eddie furious at journos after 'worst press conference I've ever had'

what about something as simple as a summer comp. five teams. drawing development players from club rugby and u/20s. Clean and for viewers we see gen next playing on prime time. for the players they get exposure for the super clubs and competition.

what I would like to see is a transfer system. if a club team develops a player the super clubs need to buy out the contract. this way the incentive is on clubs to produce talent and make money. The super teams (or o/s teams) get the benefit of more quality players.

so as a young 16 year old. they can get some development money from the club but also know there is a path to super.

as another idea. what about a GPS, CCC having a semi professional team that plays in an australia wide club comp? again as a 16. year old I know I can get paid ages 17/18 and exposure into high level club land.

if the goal is to produce more players but there is not enough room in Australia; why not set up a global contracted exchange programme. Imagine as a 17 year old choosing between making money in NRL or making money in rugby and playing in France or Japan.

Why RA CEO is leaning into 'beating heart' of club rugby in third tier plan as crunch talks loom

EJ is looking for players coming into form.

There is still a France match and then Georgia.

So players like Kerevi, Pone, Kellaway are coming back from injury and still have upside to play into.

If you had to pick today then yes you would pick Foketi.

Jordy at 13 should play into 13 with some more matches.

Concern for me at this stage is Marika. What to do here. He still delivers on those magic moments however there are the defensive issues that just keep coming on his core role of defending his opposite number. I do love the visuals of those run-up smashes on midfield but they are bonuses and should come at the expense of core.

The elephant in the room here is out Props. I am ok with Bell and Slipper. However Thor wasn’t playing that well before he was injured (plus is a yellow card magnet) and everyone else including Pone isn’t at WC winning standard.

There are a few people suggesting Samu come into the squad however as a wildcard I would like to see Gleeson instead. I do get the backrow needed to form combos so fairplay.

One final whinge. White should be done. How Lonegan isn’t in front of him Im dumbfounded. He offers goal kicking and a better distribution.

Wallabies star to have operation on broken hand in latest Rugby World Cup speed bump

I like the out of the box thinking here. Slipper can throw from memory.

Wallabies CONFIRMED: 10 changes with McReight in for Hoops, Eddie's bench gamble, Rebel's debut and Suli dropped

HiKa are you saying Jimbo is a Reds supporter? 😁 He got his wish with M Hooper so back in the cage Jimbo

Wallabies CONFIRMED: 10 changes with McReight in for Hoops, Eddie's bench gamble, Rebel's debut and Suli dropped

Nick White I would do a straight sub for Lonegan.

I also think Jed will do just fine

100%

Wallabies CONFIRMED: 10 changes with McReight in for Hoops, Eddie's bench gamble, Rebel's debut and Suli dropped

Starting team is ok but be warned they will still need some time to bed in combos

Wright may lose out to Kellaway in the future. But did combine well with Mark and Marika in the past. The Argies will target him for position though as Mark and Marika are not known for their kicking games. Expect some kicks and plays to the corner which means Len and Samu are going to have to work over time OR back row will need to roam a little wider.

Pone and Jordan are both high risks. I can assume that Tanelia will take Pones position in the future but what are they thinking they can do with Jordan? He has had years and years to work on his throwing. Thats not going to turn around in 4 games though I wish it would.

Rob over Samu I am guessing is more of Eddie treating this as a trial match. I am ok with that. Why not.

For Pretoria, it was appropriate however we needed better kick chase to apply pressure and we needed better defence (obviously) to pin them down. We didn’t do either.

Game plans like more possession can be applied from here on out with out the tyranny of altitude.

'It's a marathon': Wallabies not panicking as Kerevi puts hand up to start against Cheika's Pumas

My team above but replacing Nick White with Ryan Lonergan in the backs.

I don’t think McReight is stronger in a collision than Hooper (and don’t think either is the answer). I would persist with Tom Hooper or Kemeny if available.

I would also want someone to offer some punch cover for Valentini, when is Leeson back?

We all should pray that Angus Bell and Tanelia Toup find form straight away.

Suli and Ulese shouldn’t be in a starting side. Australia A at best.

ANALYSIS: Eddie Jones has no time for passion projects in World Cup year, kick heavy gameplan is here to stay

Jack Bowen or Lynah would be good to blood

the only reason i have Lonergan first is white seems to dominate the 10. I think Quade and Carter (or whoever gets 10) need to have the quick ball. Lonergan does this well.

Point taken on kicking. White does kick though from memory.

I think skill wise Petaia and Nawa are pretty like for like. Nawa has been breaking a lot of tackles lately and doesn’t give up which in the past Petaia seems to have done. Also Petaia can sometimes drop off the work rate. Petaia has better defence but just not as productive.

The hunters and collectors: Five players eager to impress in the 2023 Rugby Championship

So you are saying he could pass like Kerevi which would make him a utility that can play 12/13/11?

A few months to learn to play 12? Foketi and Kervi are ahead on 12. And Len is ahead on 13. Not needed at the wing. For me, he is a 13 and just needs to straighten up his running lines and distribute to the wing.

Len is the 13 we need to win the WC.
Foketi or Kervi at 12.
Marika and Mark on the wing
Tom Wright at 15.
Quade at 10 to unleash the running lines.
Longegan at 9 (white is the sub)
Kelaway as sub.

Not sure how the pigs will line up

metres perhaps as he closes some metres with running starts but he doesn’t get across the gain line a lot unless its a break. id prefer some of the others.

Australia's Super Rugby Team of the Year: Our experts name their first XVs for 2023

Disagree for Langi and Rob. Both puncture lines. Langi was injured last night so that’s why you didn’t see a lot from him.

Mark N also has very good penetration

TRL are we done with Loeislo for now?

I feel like Edmed has a tighter game than Gordon which for RWC might be important.

Hodge – mm ok. You know defense is important in this games right? 🙂

The most indispensable player for Eddie's WC run: No.10s are like rock 'n' roll front men, and that makes Quade the Boss

I like QC more than Carter. But I suspect Tane is going to finish the year out as number #3 pushing for #2. He looked great last week.

Donaldson will be back 15 with Max out.

I would still like to see what Tom Wright can do at 10 (not for this year though).

The most indispensable player for Eddie's WC run: No.10s are like rock 'n' roll front men, and that makes Quade the Boss

Imagine having Marika subbed in instead of Jordy. Tom will have have a bountiful kick chase duo or wing to run off him. I would like to see a hard running 12 (samu) or 13 (Len) run a line as well. a pod for the return.

Rugby News: Eddie asks 'how much more can he find?' as Wright deal confirmed, Kolisi boost for Boks

I am a Tahs fan. With that out of the way. I called Tom Wright at 15 a few years back when everyone was hating on him. My new bold prediction is that he has 10 or a playmaking 12 on his back after the world cup. He will need to make a jump as Eddie put it into the best 15 which will require a tad more starch in defence. But I do believe he would be better suited in defense at 10 than his current 15. This arrangement does require Lonegan to kick conversions at 9 as I am not sure on Toms kick off the tee.

Suaalii was co-funded by the marketing team. He has already paid for himself with the media attention. Throw in his first few games and he has well an truly paid for himself. Make the Wallabies shine then we are talking about a great ROI.

I don’t know why everyone has an issue with this.

Wendall, Izzy, Rogers, are the only returns that would match him

Revealed: Why Wallabies ace is backing himself with ballsy short-term deal - and how Suaalii signing impacted it

Smart by Mark. He is backing himself. The bottom line if he doesn’t get that upside at Tahs he can move o/s and get the big money.

Tooly you don’t rate Gleeson as a defender? That one or two big shots per game and the speed off the line have attackers looking up a lot. That in itself makes him a good defender. pressure
