The best that could only dream: An XI of players who never wore the baggy green
Correct. I inserted the state where each player played the majority of their cricket.

Thanks mate. Certainly not easy squeezing 25 players into 11.

Yes Martin, my own rules put a line through any spinners that had any kind of record. For obvious reasons, I didn’t consider Somerville so went for an all-seam attack. On the momey re Wright though. More than useful with the willow.

Any conversation re Hodge & Test match cricket is always an interesting one.

Jamie Cox and Dave Hussey the 2 that standout for mine.

Went with a right/left hand combo but your point is very valid Rob. Consider them switched come the 2nd test.

Little better. Useful stats for an allrounder I would’ve thought though. Age is down the list for mine when it comes to selecting a team. I’ll take form and ability every day of the week. In saying that, in no way am I suggesting he should be selected now, I was merely going through players that could’ve played a role at some stage in their career if selected to wear the baggy green.

All good players. Limited my selections to those still playing or retired last 10 years.

It’s a long tour. There’s a chance for a Maxwell to bat @ 7 depending on the conditions. Deep batting could work if you have those extra few all-rounders.
Yes, if Khawaja does get selected in the first test – which I think he will, if he doesn’t perform – I think he’ll struggle to hold a spot.
Marsh, Maxwell & Handscomb will get a crack during the tour.
Potential lineup.

Six questions for the upcoming Test tour of India
Appreciate your contribution Robz, keep well buddy.
Depression: a professional athlete's toughest challenge
Lets hope all the necessary steps are taken to give this a real crack. Last week was a small step in the right direction. Like any professional club, grassroots is the key.
A whole new ball game for NZ
Wake up Charles. Price was assistant coach before coming on board as head coach. He has been in charge for two preseasons and judging from the weekends performance I’m comfortable in saying the team has taken a backward step.
So the answer to your question is No. Time will not fix the issues Price is currently experiencing.
Dragons hardly breathing fire
“shanebrien, maybe you should coach the Dragons” – Great idea! Best thing you have said all day.
“Ohh how quickly so many Dragon “fans” start putting the boot in when the chips are down.” – Please. It’s a precious world we live in when you can’t vent your frustration without being accused of ‘sinking the boot in’.
Dragons hardly breathing fire
Thanks.
I suggest the game is far too quick to go in with young halves and to then expect Gidley to take over if they get ‘lost’.
Tough call, I just think Roosters will go well on the back of a Maloney/Pierce combo which will ultimately be the deciding factor to who wears the 6 & 7 for the Blues.
Six of the biggest league headlines for 2013
In regards to Finch, you can argue that only 5 of the players purchased were specialist batsmen. All-rounders and bowlers were very much the order of the day.
IPL continues to buck the economy
Maxwell put a $US200,000 price on his head but benefited from a fierce bidding battle between Mumbai and the IPL’s newest team, the Tom Moody (Australian)-led Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Moody was looking for a marquee player to build his new team around hence why he was willing to play his part in the bidding war.
In saying all that, I think the value of any player will be best judged at the conclusion of the tournament.

Gordon is a former Origin player, albeit only one game.
I would like him to get a full season under his belt before he is brought up in any conversation. I hope that this is the year.
Six of the best NRL signings for 2013
Luke Lewis is a great player. Sharks weren’t exactly lacking class or experience in the forward pack last season though.
Don’t get me wrong, he will do a job but Anasta heads to a club that had nine different halves pairings and four different fullbacks. Their halves issues created problems in other positions too. All this equals greater impact than Luke Lewis at the Sharks.

Actually had Innes as my 12th man but removed him last minute. Always a great discussion though.
