A keen sports follower who loves to have a say when there is controversy

Just watched the Griffin interview on NRL360. I was massively impressed with AG in every aspect. I am a Dogs supporter, and would love him there is a breathe – no disrespect to Dean Pay.

As for P_ G, I am fed up with the smoke and mirrors and fairytales he has been promoting throughout his post player career. I used to listen to him but now just ignore anything he says. Unfortunately the NRL need controversial figures like him to attract attention to the sport. This has allowed PG to grow his stature and power in league. I am not sure he realises he would be one of the most despised people in the NRL.

The PG juggernaut may be unstoppable within league, but people who operate in the despicable way he does inevitably get found out by karma.

Lies, corporate speak and audacious coach poaching

Those defending the referees are kidding themselves. Despite having the highest levels of support in the history of the game, the standard of referring is rubbish and has been for a long time. For me there are some obvious issues:

* Leadership and people skills are critical, which in my opinion is too often missing in our lead referees. It is almost completely absent in the touch judges. A little bit of charisma wouldn’t hurt also.
* There needs to be a recuitment program that identifies people with the right skill sets to become referees and reward them accordingly.
* There needs to be greater incentives for good refereeing performance, including media support on this.
* Performance should be judged by an independent professional analysts. Not the refs coaching and adminstrative teams.
* Live betting on NRL (and Sport in general) should be banned in Australia. This is leading to the microscopic analysis of decisions and has already penetrated the integrity of the game.
* The NRL should spend some money on marketing the contribution of refs and building a positive profile of refereeing in the NRL.

Referee basher? Get out and don't come back

Someone told me today that Phil Gould’s middle name is Ivan. In short that would make him P.I.G.

CONFIRMED: Panthers sack coach Anthony Griffin just a month from NRL finals

I have mix feelings about MC’s refereeing.

I will always remember him for being one of the most arrogant referees alongside Bill Harrigan. Sure MC had talent, but lacked people skills on the field. I am sure if you took snippets from his 300 games, there would be many things he would admit he could have done better. In saying that the NRL management has a lot to answer for in relation to the inconsistencies of referees.

No decent person condones the threatening of another person, but given the substantial amount of money bet on sport, this will only stop when betting on sport is banned. This our Government is accountable for.

We're all to blame for Cecchin's resignation

The Raiders vs Chocolate Soldiers Game made my mind up on a few things:

* The season is over for the Raiders and Penrith
* All the criticism the referees get, is justly deserved
* The NRL is a dying sport due to gross mismanagement on many levels
* If you have kids, Rugby League would be the last sport you would want them to play
