Yeah I was aware that the Boomerangs invented it haven’t seen it live but have seen a recording of it somewhere, I also wasn’t aware that Lumumba had preformed it, I must have missed it (I assume it was against Port in the NT) I also assume it got some coverage somewhere.
I couldn’t agree more that this issue has become very divisive very quickly to that point I will discuss an interesting thing that happened to me this morning.
We were discussing this issue in the office, I was asked if i boo Adam by a young woman who over heard our discussion to which I replied that yes I do, no sooner had that left my lips than she called me racist and stormed out of the room, leaving the rest of us stunned. I have since had a chat to her raising the reason as I had done in my original post and now she can’t decided if I am actually racist or not. I am very aware now just how divisive this has become.
I’m always happy to engage in the debate on many issues, I usually like to take the contrary cause I have that personality type but this issue I got my back up very quickly when being accused by the Media etc that I was a racist when when I am a very equal opportunity boo boy. I’ve since calmed down a bit and am looking at it rationally, but had the Swans been playing in those 1st couple of days I probably would have been the 1st to boo Adam as I felt I had been labeled something that I wasn’t and if that’s how they want to paint me I’ll show ’em (not the most mature response but I was bloody seething).
Anyway for what its worth now I really don’t think there is an easy answer to this, it is a massively complex issue, say I am a Geelong supporter and he plays against the Cats does something that I think is is plainly wrong do I boo him? do I not boo him?, my visceral response would be to boo, which I should be allowed to do, I go to the footy for a release not to think about politics and political correctness.
Like you said this issue has become very divisive very quickly and like all big issues its grey, not black and white (bad choice of words I know) like most people are painting it.

Yep Ballantyne has been heavily booed and heckled at every Freo game I have ever been to, some of it is pretty vitriolic to be honest and probably shouldn’t be accepted but as Johno said before he seems to thrive on it and play better the more the boo boys seem to jump on his back.
He is actually one guy I don’t boo as most of the time I think his antics are fairly funny and booing doesn’t seem to have any effect on him, or at least that’s the indication that he gives.
