I can’t see Hayne being able to drop back in coverage and shadow receivers. Whether he man to man or in zone coverage, I don’t see him being able to cover anything complex the offence dishes up like screen plays, read options, qb pump fakes, receiver double moves, etc.

Jarryd Hayne at cornerback? Let's see what an NFL draft scout has to say

Love the boycott of Florida teams. I was expecting Atlanta to be a lot shorter, do they really think Bridgewater will make that much difference?

Big Dawg's Dodgy NFL Tips Week 4

I’m leaning Cards. But only because their D is so strong. Not that confident with the tip though.

Here’s the rest of my tips this week.

Big Dawg's Dodgy NFL Tips Week 3

Hard to tip against the Hawks at home. 49rs/Cards will be a cracker game.

Big Dawg's Dodgy NFL Tips Week 3

Should Floyd be allowed to box, should Ray Rice be allowed to play football, should Todd Carney be allowed to play rugby league, should Donald Sterling be allowed to own an NBA team?

It all has to do with money. The NFL (and other sports organisations) couldn’t care less about morals until it adversely effects the long term revenue of the league. The league owners own the league and appoint the commissioner to run it. If the owners ask for the commissioners resignation would it be in their best interest to appoint a new commissioner with more regulations/rules/morals/processes for dealing with issues like domestic violence and PED’s? I think not, and I think that the appointment of a new commissioner would ultimately give them more power to act freely and turn a blind eye to things like this.

As for inconsistencies to suspensions I think that all teams lobby (behind the scenes) for their players to not be suspended so that they can have their best players on the field (a practice we see today with the NRL and AFL judiciary system).

The problem is not the commissioner, it is the continuous financial support that people have for the NFL product. If the public wants to influence morals and beliefs inside the NFL then it should boycott the product, however I don’t see this becoming a long term reality.

Pied Piper Goodell is slowly leading the NFL off the edge

What a crazy week with lots of upsets. Love the column, will make it a weekly read.
