Everyone is acting like Finch is out of a form slump, however, Joe Burns reminds us that it could have been a one off innings. Finch needs to reassure us that he is ready by finishing off with two good innings.

Wade is still an excellent player aside from his irrational shot selection and I think he should be in contention for the World Cup given his experience. Should Wade continue with a lack of runs, only then should we consider Philippe and Carey – it is too early to disregard Wade.

Matthew Wade's time is up. Josh Philippe must take the gloves

Wade does not need to be dropped, rather he needs someone on the other side who will score runs with him. In both cases where Australia is chasing a high run-rate, Finch has failed and only created instability within the lineup and as a result, has pressured Wade to keep the run rate up. I don’t think taking Finch out will help but I do think a reshuffle in positions will do him and the team good. I do agree, however, that Wade needs to choose his shots better and not throw his wicket.

Australia must flip the script with multiple changes in Wellington

Peter Handscomb is in a form slump across all three formats which is a shame given that we know how well he can play. If he can get his rhythm back, I think he can fill the gap in the national side. He still needs to do a lot of work before even setting sight on the national team though.

Nathan Lyon finally finds form, but Victoria's fringe players make Sheffield Shield statement

Peter Handscomb is in a large form slump across all formats, which is unfortunate as we have seen what he can do. I think if he finds a way to get that rhythm back, he could potentially fill the gap in the national squad.
