NRL's 'ten-year men' prove the value of veterans
The list above was an example of some of the long serving currently active players, not a definitive list………yes, good pick up, Gallen is another player who has had a long career.
NRL's 'ten-year men' prove the value of veterans
Thanks Adam – yes Lyon seems to get better as he goes on… very valuable player. If he committed to Australia and NSW for his whole career, would it change his perceived impact on the game? Food for thought…
NRL's 'ten-year men' prove the value of veterans
nice pick up Spirit! you would be correct.
NRL's 'ten-year men' prove the value of veterans
Great article – this sort of positivity is what keeps the game in good health in Australia. For the sake of the game as a whole, let’s hope these thoughts materialise.
A new golden age of Australian rugby is upon us
Wise words BB – enjoy while the sun is shining, one game and series at a time.
Renewed hope or a false dawn for Australia?
Thanks Cantab – well said – not sure if Australia will thump India, but it might be a little closer.. SA could be different though!
Renewed hope or a false dawn for Australia?
Interesting debate here. He is one of England’s best Test players (in fact is their all-time leading try-scorer), this must also add to his value. But I don’t think the Warriors need another fullback either. Kevin Locke is equal to any NRL fullback. The Fish is also a real talent – is that enough cover?
The Warriors can have a comic-booking ending
I agree Maximillian. It’s as if they needed a horror 2012 to see how far down they went, and with the talent they have, they needed something to bring them back…cue Matty Elliott.
The Warriors can have a comic-booking ending
Thanks Silver – yes, agree about Tongue.
Dallas Johnson: the last of special type of player
Hi Morfs – Hinch or Hoff can play similiar roles, but yes you are right, Hinchcliffe is usually at lock. Agree too – hopefully he can have a pain free post playing life!
Dallas Johnson: the last of special type of player
Thanks Kris, will be interesting to track his progress and development!
Dallas Johnson: the last of special type of player
Thanks Peeko – I think you will find in the early 2000’s Hindmarsh was about 100 kilos, so he was a little heavier than these others – but agree, Stagg and Lowrie similiar ilk.
Dallas Johnson: the last of special type of player
Do you think he is cut of the same cloth as Campion and co though Kris? Very different players than your usual number 13.
Dallas Johnson: the last of special type of player
Thanks Dave! My pleasure! Haha go the Tomahawks! Will be great to see them in action on the big stage.

Nice work Pat, more focus and energy into the World Cup and Test football the better!
Origin over: time for rugby league's true pinnacle
+1. Test footy is most definitely number 1, the real thing, nothing compares! Origin is it’s own little entity now.
State of Origin has been re-born in 2013
Thanks Renegade. Scott, c’mon bud.. better to beat NSW than England or New Zealand? You are kidding right?
State of Origin has been re-born in 2013
Thanks WB – yes, I think I was thinking of the dark red of Brisbane in his early career, he did play all his Super Rugby with the Waratahs. I think he has surprised a lot of people by his durability, amazing to think he debuted so long ago and could still come back into the NRL with success.
