You’d have to give the honours to the Thunder at the halfway mark. They bowled to a clear plan set out by Blackwell, and once the wickets started to fall they kept falling on a regular basis, preventing the Sixers from getting that really big partnership going. McGlashan was starved of the strike for most of her innings, which restricted the damage she could do. Still, her and Gardner both got 20, Healy 19, and Reakes actually top scored with her 23* at the death, which helped the Sixers post a respectable total.
Once again the spinners – Gibson and Osborne – did the damage in that post-Powerplay spell, taking five wickets between them and really skittling that middle order. Cheatle also bowled a really tight ball that starved the Sixers of runs. There were some crazy mix ups between the runners, some bad misses in the field, but also some great diving catches taken, and the Sixers ran hard. A really entertaining innings to watch.
The Thunder openers will be out shortly to begin the chase. 116 to win.
