Raiders tragic, in despair over rugby, retired.

My personal view is that the game itself is the problem. I appreciate that Australian teams don’t seem to be able to play it as well as our counterparts at the moment, but no matter the teams, I struggle to sit through a game anymore. Mindless barging at rock wall defence lines, the ongoing inability to get a scrum result in one packing and a drop in basic skill levels has turned me off a game I loved to play and watch. Not sure how they’ll get me back but NRL and AFL are well ahead these days in my house.

The pull apart and restitching solution for SANZAAR

See Tim, you’re falling into the same trap the coach and selectors have for years. ‘I know he’s not in great form, but he is made for Origin and hasn’t let us down before’. No Dugan, no Tedesco, Cordner maybe. Klemmer went missing last year I thought. Freddie will get it right I think.

Just one month out, the NSW Origin puzzle is crystal clear

Fully agree Ad-O. Part of the problem though, is that the TV cameras and commentators will replay an incident to death and make judgements anyway. If we could limit their views as well, all would be fine.

It's hard to watch when video keeps killing the NRL star

Remember Margaret Court? News of the day people, move on.

Tell your story walking Israel. The NRL doesn’t want your crap

As long as he doesn’t come anywhere near the Raiders!!

Which NRL walk-up starts are now on the outer?

‘Waived’? Really Steve?

Did Jarryd Hayne warrant a side-door exit from Sydney Airport?

I guess I have the goalposts firmly set at world No 1 again (probably because of my age). I think we are a long way from there, just through consistency. Granted, we aren’t going in the wrong direction, but I wouldn’t say moving forward yet.

Ralph, agreed. I look forward to not losing enamel from my molars!

Cheika needs to use Brisbane credit for Spring Tour good

Sorry Brett, this is part of what is wrong with the Wallabies in recent times. Every time we have a win, everyone says it has all turned around and we are on the way back. Then we relax, and they do it to us again! I appreciate you have lines to write, but please can we just wait until we have strung a few good performances (and hopefully wins) together before we sit back and congratulate all and sundry?

I agree re AFL Footy Show. My comment was about AFL in general, be it radio, TV or print. They tell it like it is, if someone is having a bad game they say so.

I come to praise Fatty, not to bury him

I turned off this show years ago. Everyone is a champ, they’re all in great form and have just had a bit of bad luck on the field lately. It’s pretty sickening really. I would love League commentary to become mature enough that genuine justified criticism and praise become the norm. AFL doesn’t seem to have a problem with this. Matty Johns has the best NRL show going around at the moment, with 360 close behind. They are more adventurous with their criticism and more realistic with their praise, but still seem to be a bit afraid of upsetting someone. We’ll get there eventually.

Haha that’s funny.

There are only two men who can bring back the Bulldogs' bite

All good points Ben, I have a lot of admiration for the refs, although there are a couple of show ponies in their ranks for sure. I also don’t think enough is made of the modern day tactics of deliberately ignoring the rules once play has commenced. There is hardly an aspect of the game now where players don’t either try to get away with breaking the rules, or simply don’t care if they break the rules, to try and get an advantage. This puts more pressure on the refs. It seems that the most penalised teams now are also the most successful, so I would love to see a widening of the use of the sin bin next season to try and pull the teams back into line. Maybe 5 and 10 minute spells, like we had once?
