63% of people use stats the wrong way, although only 52 % admit or are aware of this, 37% of people use stats correctly, although out off those 37% only 82 % are aware of that.

GPS data: Training the next wave of AFL analytics

WhereIsGene said “Interesting article Ryan, and no offense but I find stats in general to be massively overrated.”

35 % of all people surveyed agree with that !!

Looking at the hidden gems, it really hits home on the odd occasion that our home grown brand of football really does draw kids from across the demographic spectrum.

Just in this list above there is a son of a Russian world pole vaulting champion, 2 Sudanese refuges, and a tiwi Islander and Stephen Tahana is of Islander background and was born in NZ

2015 AFL draft drospects – The hidden gems

I think everyone bar a few Jonestown type followers is aware of that.

Jets storm to A-League win over City

NRL does not have foxtel ratings on friday night —fact

Jets storm to A-League win over City

Unbelievable really, but goes to show the respective passion for winning a SANFL premiership.

I think the Foxtel cup was a great idea, the real issue IMO was not having the games played at the respective home grounds, lighting was the big issue along with the cost of producing it, but would have been really good for the respective fan bases who had little interest heading out to Subi or Footy Park mid week, but would have turned up to local suburban grounds.

2022: Time for an 18-round AFL fixture and national cup

I am not so sure about that, a lower AFL team that is rebuilding with younger players may actually struggle against a Subiaco or Central District a team full of mature hard bodies.

Possibly a smaller game time ( 2 halves) for games mid week or even potentially 9 a side football on a smaller ground may even things up.

Some A grade amatuer teams may actually perform very well against lower WAFL or SANFL, NEAFL teams.

I like the idea but i agree the difference in standard is much wider than in soccer because of the easier ability for good teams to score.

Yet the last couple of years are throwing up many NSW boys from GWS ‘s zone, that actually means more Vic boys stay in Vic.
GWS could prove a very good idea, don’t let your Essondon bias against AD blind you

The lack of real legitimate RL fans in Sydney is a big one

Three reasons NRL crowds have dwindled

@ Cathar – you are proving with your own words the assertion over and over that Sydney is not the RL heartland that you want it to be, the prices did not change for QLD finals game because there was sufficient demand, the prices went down in Sydney because of insufficient demand.

Three reasons NRL crowds have dwindled

Super league was but a plan to reinvigorate RL from the excess of Sydney clubs with little to no support, because off the very reasons i have pointed out, those reasons have not changed just become more apparent.

Three reasons NRL crowds have dwindled

Perth is a backwater ?, precisely what appears to fast becoming of RL in Sydney, played in the far reaches of the WS redneck wonderland.

Three reasons NRL crowds have dwindled

Well, Crows Nest Hotel supports the local AFL club which has been going since 1903 and the local RU club which has been going since 1957.

The change in demographics like much of Sydney has seen the local RL clubs wound up.

Three reasons NRL crowds have dwindled

When NZ refused to join the 6 Australian states in becoming a country they did so on the back of Kiwis being more British and of superior stock than the standard Aussie, fast forward to today and Kiwis still hold that view ……LOL, in general they are more British than the British.

They remind me of the old Australian Italian women who wear black in mourning for years and years, they don’t really do that in Italy anymore, they are more Italian than the Italians.

Wellington Phoenix cannot "squat on a licence": Gallop

NZ had there chance to be part of the Australian Federation in 1901, the South Sea Poms chose to vote to stay out of it, Fiji as well.

Could have had a decent voice in a decent sized country, as it stands now they have a serious little man syndrome.

Wellington Phoenix cannot "squat on a licence": Gallop

Yes it is important to note that the AFL is the only comp that publishes figures and AFAIK tests for rec drugs out of season.

Let’s just do a A-league and not bother to test out of season, surely then people can’t complain. !!

AFL beefs up illicit drugs policy

RL in Perth is the poor mans cousin to every other football code by a significant amount.

Three reasons NRL crowds have dwindled

Anti Freo drugs Stevic was using.

Do we need to know if AFL players are taking drugs?

Well exactly, everyone complains but the AFL do test out of comp, no one else does it, yet the AFL cops it, everyone else sneaks under the radar

Do we need to know if AFL players are taking drugs?

We are talking crowds here, is David Hill trolling as well ?, where have all those teams and players gone, Penrith juniors has lost more clubs since Hill’s speech

Three reasons NRL crowds have dwindled

I agree Don, I don’t see some agency running around knocking on doors at all hours drug testing doctors, Pollies and plumbers etc all of whom have important work that may endanger life if not performed correctly.

Bunch of self righteous namby pamby P/C do gooders are calling for players to be sacked, they would not put up with it in there profession

Do we need to know if AFL players are taking drugs?

Very entertaining article mo

Living in the 70s, rugby league style

ha ha like most people, if ASADA or whoever were screaming around the suburbs undertaking random drug checks, 75% of people under 40 would be in jail having lost their job.

AFL beefs up illicit drugs policy

The AFL should be cut some slack, but it won’t be, the AFL players association are fairly powerful and they are the ones who wanted to keep 3 strikes, they have met in the middle here.

The AFL players association in reality hold the whip hand, they became quite influential and powerful under Demetriou and why shouldn’t they be.

I also think many people do not fully understand the policies.

Trying to hedge his bets i suppose, i am not sure how many world class batsman have been 196 cm, to me the short ball comes into play far more often with the big fellas.
