Storm need to rest everyone they can except Paps who needs a proper run at fullback. I really don’t think he should be fullback for Finals though but would be good to see him up against Walsh who with Ponga are the two best fullbacks going. Had a look at his 2020 highlights package on Youtube and he in nowhere near that level. Fourth place finish!!??? What the heck Craig!! Not good enough! Coach is skating on thin ice and surely the only way he save his job is to go on and win the Premiership! 😡

Round 27 Team Lists Late Mail: Manu hamstrung, long list of stars resting, Papa's year over, Ponga races clock for finals

Played in the middles.

ANALYSIS: One in, one out as Papenhuyzen returns after 405 days in Storm win, but Hughes departs with knee injury

Prefer he go fullback and Meaney go 7 as Meaney has played 6 before. Hard to drop Meaney from 1 thoguh…he has been outstanding this year! Jonah Pezet also has been a handy fill in at 7 so he’ll likely get first shot.

Absolutely, Young is a decent replacment center but Reimis is way better especially defensivley. Brimson smoked Young and got Coates to come in for that easy try to Jojo Fifita. I never thought I’d say this but Marion Seve is better than Olam at the moment. Olam’s rush in defense is so easy to beat nowadays and was gifting teams tries. I’m wondering also if they do go Paps fullback whether Meaney can play center.

That is true although once the commentators mentioned knee and tear in the same sentence it does not sound great. If Knights beat Sharks tomorrow they should wholesale rest the team next week, especially Hughes even if passed fit to play.

Any slim chance the Storm had is gone with Hughes. Best attacking player for the Storm by a big big margin this year.

Bula. Key position and probably one of the best players on the park every game. This guys ceiling is going to be crazy.

NRL Rookie of the Year: The Brick, the flying mullet and Tigers' only bright spot

They actually should have won the Melbourne game. They lost Tohu Harris who is their link man and best defender in the first 20 mins and had injuries throughout the game to key players including CNK and finished with no one on the bench. I think in a rematch the Warriors will win. Dark horse for the finals for sure and Webster surely gets coach of the year!

Warriors’ surge to finals is biggest surprise since 2005 Tigers premiership run - and Shaun Johnson deserves Dally M

Good to see him back but not holding out much hope for Paps to be fit for finals. “Splitting his patella in two” seems to be putting it mildly as his patella was in a lot more than in 2 pieces.

NRL News: Papenhuyzen set for return, Holbrook favourite for Super League job, Teddy backs Freddy

You might not be wrong on that one. Below is ChapGPTs apology 😂

User
can you write me a 50 word apology for an on field incident in sport?

Dear [Recipient],
I sincerely apologize for my regrettable on-field incident. My actions were inexcusable and did not reflect the values of sportsmanship and fair play. I deeply regret any harm or offense caused and assure you that I am committed to learning from this experience and improving as both an athlete and a person.

Round 18 Team Lists Late Mail: Broncos shake-up, Dolphins pull surprise switch, Storm make Munster call, Roosters rattled

Reece Walsh is a big loss for Qld especially with Ponga not putting his hand up to play. I think Billy will go with someone with speed so Hammer or Brimson if he is to maintain his Game plan. Walsh’s speed was the difference in those games just making the NSW defenders nervous and his passing game was the icing on the cake to set up a couple of those tries. Hammer would probably be the closest to that but I think Billy also looks at effort on effort throughout the game and if that’s the case it will be Brimson as Hammer drifts in and out.

Origin III predicted teams: Blues cop fresh hits on injury front, Slater coy over Maroons fullback options with Walsh out

I’ve been saying Edwards should have been in the team since Game 1 even if they put him on the wing. That guy is made for Origin…tough, gritty and will try all day. Garrick I’m not so sure of…I’ve seen him completely clock off in tough games. I’d rather you have someone like Gutho there..also a tough fit type. I like the center combo of Graham and Katoni…both in form centers. Liam Martin off the bench was ridiculous….he is made for Origin and should be holding that 2nd rower starting spot for years to come.

Selection Blues: Here’s a novel idea - a NSW team picked on current form instead of past reputation

Fool… 😂

Tigers should see if they can get an early release for Jonah Pezet. After the Storm system and then to go under Benji I think he can be a really good half. Very calm in his decision making and a great kicking game. On the weekend he put through two great kicks for Xavier to score…one of them stepping inside DCE when he went for the intercept. Great split second decision making. He is way to good to be stuck behind Munster and Hughes for the next couple of years filling in during rep and injury.

Luke Brooks signs, Koula knocks back Wallabies and two others join as part of Manly signing spree

Souths without Mitchell is a way less potent attack machine, especially if a good defense starts targeting Cody. Add to that the Cowboys are starting to find their mojo. Smashed the Storm a couple of weeks ago so wasn’t surprised they won this one as well.

ANALYSIS: Souths slip to fourth defeat in five as Drinkwater dominates - but where is the famous Bunnies attack?

I see those all over the place now!…was wondering where they all came from. Mystery solved!

Freddie’s Cooked: How tactical blunders, selection mistakes and a failure to learn doomed the Blues boss

You forgot the toads! 😂

Freddie’s Cooked: How tactical blunders, selection mistakes and a failure to learn doomed the Blues boss

Just watching how Walsh played so far this series you get the sense Billy has been watching and planning how he would be used against NSW. Probably had a game plan and tip sheet for Walsh ready to go from Day 1. Probably helped that Billy had exactly the same attributes as a fullback but Walsh has the bonus of having a great passing game as well which Billy had to develop later in his.

Mick Ennis?

Freddie’s Cooked: How tactical blunders, selection mistakes and a failure to learn doomed the Blues boss

Well he put Hynes in the centers in Game 1 and saw Billy put Ben Hunt in the centers for Game 1 which they won so decided that was a winning strategy. 😁

I don’t think that injured players should be an excuse. I’m old enough to remember a Qld side with Brenko Lee, Kurt Capewell and Edric Lee in the outside backs along with Corey Allan at fullback still getting it done.

Freddie’s Cooked: How tactical blunders, selection mistakes and a failure to learn doomed the Blues boss

Yep, and Ponga was one of Qlds best last series right up there with Munster.

Freddie’s Cooked: How tactical blunders, selection mistakes and a failure to learn doomed the Blues boss

How about Michael Ennis? Recently retired…seems to have some football acumen and obvioulsy passionate about the Blues.

Freddy saw Billy put Ben Hunt in the centers in Game 1 and thought it was genius!

Not quite ready yet…couple more punches to the head in the boxing ring and should be good to go for 2025.
