Mick Ennis?

Freddie’s Cooked: How tactical blunders, selection mistakes and a failure to learn doomed the Blues boss

Well he put Hynes in the centers in Game 1 and saw Billy put Ben Hunt in the centers for Game 1 which they won so decided that was a winning strategy. 😁

I don’t think that injured players should be an excuse. I’m old enough to remember a Qld side with Brenko Lee, Kurt Capewell and Edric Lee in the outside backs along with Corey Allan at fullback still getting it done.

Yep, and Ponga was one of Qlds best last series right up there with Munster.

How about Michael Ennis? Recently retired…seems to have some football acumen and obvioulsy passionate about the Blues.

Freddy saw Billy put Ben Hunt in the centers in Game 1 and thought it was genius!

Not quite ready yet…couple more punches to the head in the boxing ring and should be good to go for 2025.

Billy Slater another masterclass in selection and coaching. I had doubts about Walsh over Ponga…especially how Ponga played last year but Walsh is going to be very hard to dislodge. I also had doubts about Coates and thought Ponga as a winger might be more dangerous but Coates was really good this game. Took the hard carries, made meters, dangerous kick target and was there at the end of backline moves. Nanai back from injury was also a worry but he was managed well with his game time and played well. Just a very well selected, managed and planned team effort.

Surprising that Melbourne are outright favourites against Manly considering the shellacking they got earlier this year. Am I missing something?

Round 17 Late Mail: Jurbo an Origin chance, Latrell out, Dolphins lose one star but get another back

I think you’re right about Cleary. He will return fresh and ready to go for the Finals. Origin does take a huge toll on the players. I don’t agree with the Storm being in the group that’s seperating themselves from the rest….they got flogged by the Cowboys 2 weeks back and had no excuses fielding a full team. The only team that hasn’t been flogged are the Panthers which is why I think a 3peat is inevitable. Defense wins the big games.

How Cleary’s torn hamstring increases Penrith’s chances of ripping off rare three-peat

Now that you mention it….might be pretty entertaining if teams were allowed to pluck people from the crowd during this round. 😂

Second-rate Friday night 'blockbuster' an insult to fans as Origin makes mockery of NRL draw

Well to be fair the fans can watch other things if they’re not interested…after all they’re Only Fans. 😁

Does anyone else have the feeling its all setting up for a monumental upset at Suncorp…or is that the lingering effects of last nights alcohol?

From the beach to the Cauldron: Cook and Moses on how the Blues can turn Origin around at Fortress Suncorp

Would have picked Kalyn on the wing, Xavier has been good but not great. I think the Blues forwards would rather have Xavier returning the ball than Ponga. Brings a whole lot more in attack and can slot in at fullback since he’s played there before so would know all the plays. That said Billy has been pretty spot on with his picks so far.

'Last year won’t help us': Slater defends personnel changes as he looks to next gen - but says Suncorp can't win it for Maroons

Sharks had a really tough game last week even though they played really hard trying to score so was expecting a bit of a hangover. Storm also had a tough loss but more through lack of effort so was expecting a bounceback playing at home. However was still not expecting that much of a scoreline. The Sharks possibly played their worst game of the season where just about everything they tried turned to mud and the Storm one of their best.

Dane Nielson and Julian O’Neil somehow made the Qld team during the streak.

Jogging the state of your Origin memory: The Queensland Maroons you may have forgotten

Trell will make a difference….at the very least he can pass the ball!

Superstar poses no threat, enforcer gets only 30 minutes, playmakers struggle: Blues player ratings

The butchered try by Tedesco actually should be more of a talking point…Fox (fastest man on the planet) unmarked and Teddy goes for the glory play. I really think he was trying too hard last night….there was even a last tackle hard on attack and he somehow got in to first receiver before passing to Cleary.

ANALYSIS: Queensland's outside backs won them the game - because Brad Fittler does not learn

I think for the 2nd try it was Tedesco and Luai who missed Cobbo, not Crighton who had gone up and cut off Walsh. Almost snuffed the movement too except for Walsh’s skill to get the quick pass away.

I honeslty don’t mind that at all…or Joey’s ‘advice’ to Fittler during the cross to coach. As long as both side are going for it and trying to win and the coaching staff are ok with it then all good!

Battered Maroons pull off stunning comeback on 'really poor' Blues to put Fittler's future in jeopardy

Might have been the even up for Frizells 50/50 no try call. If both 50/50 went against NSW than that would not be 50/50 but 100/0 and we would have to call for Klein or the bunkers heads. 😁

Battered Maroons pull off stunning comeback on 'really poor' Blues to put Fittler's future in jeopardy

After looking at the replay it was actually both Hynes and Cleary who missed the tackle so all not his fault. There’s going to be a hard video session of this game for these players.

I kept saying pick Edwards in place of To’o. I feel he would be similar to Liam Martin…just go hard all game. However To’o actually played very well so that is unlikely to happen unless Freddy decides to drop Teddy or Fox which isn’t happening.

Battered Maroons pull off stunning comeback on 'really poor' Blues to put Fittler's future in jeopardy

I think this game was so non Origin-like I expect everyone except the injured to back up and play club this weekend.

Battered Maroons pull off stunning comeback on 'really poor' Blues to put Fittler's future in jeopardy

Really doesn’t make any sense to have 7 Penrith players pickeda and yet cohesion was so poor. Passes going to ground even more than in a poor club game. Luai actually wasn’t too bad with a pretty good try assist for the only ‘worked’ NSW try and To’o did a whole lot more than JAC so picks that I though were iffy on Freddy’s part actually did ok. Also Hynes missed the tackle on Munster that let the Hammer loose. I thought Tedesco was actually decent…dangerous but just not quite breaking the line. Maybe he has lost that bit of pace but it also seems he is not gelling with the rest of the NSW spine. What needs to be explained is how a GF combo 6,7,9 along with one of the best fullbacks in the World in Tedesco somehow can’t exploit in the last 10 mins of an Origin game which they were leading… a 12 man QLD side with both wingers off the field and Hunt and Fifita playing in the centers. Especially considering you also had a whole left side Penrith attack with Luai, Martin, Crighton and To’o. Just….how?
