Dont think storm are home and hosed just yet. Manly have only been turning up for 60 minutes each week and seem to be travelling pretty well. Will be a cracking match in a few weeks against the storm time particularly with both teams at full strength. DCE will have something to prove as well
Rating the rebuild: Is the Knightmare almost over?
The day the West tigers move to campeltown will be the beginning of the end for tigers part of the merger. The Wests side of the merger have more cash, resources and board members, in a few years the Western Suburbs Magpies could be resurrected at the expense of the tigers
Tigers CEO: We're not moving anywhere, especially Campbelltown
There was a typo in your stats, the storm have only won 2 premierships
Better to be quick than correct: How the NRL screwed the Knights
the spat between the 2 teams is probably the best thing that has happened to test cricket in India. They hadn’t lost at home in 5 years and were battering teams so badly that the crowds and greater cricketing world didn’t care. With the bad blood and the series on the line it will be a entertaining match-up which test cricket desperately needs.
Smith has grown further in stature this series and whilst wont necessarily send Kohli a Christmas card believe that if he was wearing a baggy green Aussies would love him.
Its not like we can be upset at his attempts to sledge or get under the Aussies skin
Kohli and Smith's childish display ruining India tour
Sounds alarmingly familiar for tigers supporters
With Jason Taylor gone, what's the future for the Wests Tigers?
The Manly Bears merger was always going to be a fight to the death. The dragons were so much stronger than the steelers that they were able to absorb them without much grief. As for the wests tigers i would not be surprised if the West dominated board werent to upset with what is happening.
With Wests left with the only leagues club,, 5 out of the 9 seats on the board and a lot of bad press being put on the tigers brand (justly or unjustly being irrelevant) I wouldn’t be surprised if in the next couple of years they try and force out the tigers altogether and go back to the magpies. They may lose balmain and Leichardt but have an opportunity to claim a bigger piece of Western Sydney.
Another interesting fact is that the Government are anticipating 30 games a season at the new Western Sydney stadium which parramatta wont be able to deliver by themselves. With the NRL wanting to move teams to bigger stadiums at the expense of local grounds it isn’t hard to fathom 2 NRL teams being based out of Western Sydney Stadium.
With Jason Taylor gone, what's the future for the Wests Tigers?
Played Rugby for 20 years, long suffering tahs supporter. Union will never die in Australia, but it could suffer a worse fate and become irrelevant.
With the competition offered by League, AFL, Soccer etc. Success is paramount to relevance and it has been lacking.
No Bledisloe for 16 years, no world cup for 20, to be still be a top tier nation these results aren’t good enough. In super rugby we only have one win over a non Australian side, and the serious chance of losing a franchise possibly even 2.
Whilst club rugby is still entertaining it isnt necessarily profitable with Eastwood having to sell their home ground of 54 years.
Lastly if you want to see how far rugby has slipped in the eye of the local punter go to the tab machine at your local and try to bet on the rugby, you’ll find AFL, League and Soccer on the first page and rugby union buried at the bottom.
Time to pull heads out of the sand and admit Australian rugby is dying
Gallen not getting the Churchill was the biggest robbery of the night. I swear i’m not saying this because I had money on barba first try scorer into Gallen for the CCM
Six things that shat me off about the NRL grand final
Think the moniker of choker (or more politely underachievers) is more suited to the Bulldogs, Have a coach that hasn’t missed the final since his first year of coaching in 2004, a roster of Internationals + origin representatives and resources better than most if not all NRL clubs. Despite making 2 grand finals they were thoroughly out-played in both and in the other appearances were bundled out in either the first or second week. The fact canterbury want a top 4 termination clause in hasler’s contract means they’re not happy with the current performance
Are the Storm the NRL's new chokers?
I like the sound of a Teddy, Mansour, and Tom Turbo back 3, with hayne and Leilua in the centres.
As always halves are a concern
Ten things I'd rather talk about than Jarryd Hayne
AFl is better managed/run than league purely due to the fact that the NRL is currently the owners of 2 NRL clubs in the Titans and Knights
Dont believe any AFL club is owned directly by AFL at present (think Brisbane might have some administrators involved). As for the Sydney bias its not as if this is an exclusive thing to NRL.
Powerbrokers in AFL in Melbourne (Eddie McGuire being the most recognised) have been critical about the perceived advantages given to Non Melbourne teams (such as living expenses and draft pics). After the Brisbane Lions won three premierships in a row they found themselves as the only AFL club existing in a non-traditional football city without a retention allowance or some list management relaxation. That is set to change but it could have been avoided altogether.
Like this nameless administrator im sure there are many in AFL who would be happy to be rid of teams that are not part of traditional areas
It's official: The NRL is getting smashed by the AFL
Happy club, happy players, easier to recruit. Should keep an eye on South Sydney as the grumblings are getting louder and at the moment everyone except Macguire is getting shown the door on the coaching side. However that will do nothing as long as rusty gives preferential treatment to the Burgess brothers
Eels fans need to refocus their hatred
The Titans and Broncos have done enough to hold their spots and make the finals, it will be 4 teams fighting for 8th position, Warriors, Tigers, Panthers and Eagles.
The Warriors have finally won a golden point match and think this will boost their confidence and a confident warriors side is lethal
The Panthers will likely take out 9th spot will either go 3 W and 2 L or vice versa.
The Tigers have a horrible run home and despite the improvement will see them drop most of their games.
The Eagles whilst playing well left their run about a game or 2 late will win more than they lose but wont be enough.
The Dragons are on the same points as Manly but the way they’re playing dont see them winning many more games.
Which team will win the NRL grand final?
Stats can be manipulated, example 5 out of 6 doctors say russian roulette is safe
Which team will win the NRL grand final?
Bulldogs also play manly in round 23 with the result anything but certain. The dogs could potentially trip up
Which team will win the NRL grand final?
Highlight of the week was tom Turbo finding a crack in newcastles defense with a cheeky play
Nine talking points from the weekend that was: NRL Round 21
I suggest that whilst wayne bennet is a good coach, he is not even close to the coach he is perceived to be.
Im sure that Dragons and knights supporters are looking at their state of their teams and wondering if he was worth it. I would not want bennett anywhere near my footy team.
Bucking hell! Why have the Broncos dropped so far off the pace?
Prior to taking over the dragons the dragons featured in 8 out of 10 finals series from 1999-2008 (80%). From 2009 when he coached for 3 seasons till today the dragons have reached only 4 from 7 (57%) with them doubtful to make the finals this drops further to 50%.
Prior to taking over the knights the knights featured in 5 from 10 finals from 2002-2011, From 2012 when he took over they have been in 1 series from 4 (25%) with it to be 1 from 5 at the end of the season.
These numbers aren’t to flattering particularly for the knights in their current condition, Bennett appears to be a short term fixer and the last 2 teams have been much worse off after he has finished his tenure.
The broncos have a relatively comfortable run to the end of the season and will make finals but i dont see them getting too far into the post-season
Bucking hell! Why have the Broncos dropped so far off the pace?
Perhaps more credit for last years success for the broncos should have gone to Griffin instead of Bennett. With Bennetts recent track record would not want him anywhere near my team.
Bucking hell! Why have the Broncos dropped so far off the pace?
Back in the 80s it appeared that the sponsors had to blend in with the jerseys, towards the 90s as more money came in that changed, is a delicate balance between generating revenue for your club without the team looking like a giant billboard
Retro round: The good, the bad and the horrendous jerseys
See above for jerseys
The magpies part of the west tigers merger would never admit it but im sure they will be working to bring back the magpies and the jersey
Retro round: The good, the bad and the horrendous jerseys
The theme for teams tend to be 3 grand finals 1 premiership
The storm were the exception as they got busted for salary cap
Think the best thing you can do in regards to sponsor logos is get them removed
Retro round: The good, the bad and the horrendous jerseys
Think thats why the 80s jerseys are so popular, you only had the one sponsor rather than front and back of jersey, arms, shorts etc
Retro round: The good, the bad and the horrendous jerseys
They would be worth a small fortune these days

Retro round: The good, the bad and the horrendous jerseys
They were being investigated so they likely jumped before they werr pushed.
7 titles unlikely given manly and broncos had already beaten them prior to 2010
What if the Melbourne Storm salary cap scandal was never discovered?
