Yes and QLD conducted themselves with such humility, if this is how they carry on after a dead rubber loss imagine what they will be like when they lose a series
Blues' dead rubber win is a cause for celebration for Queenslanders in the know
So is everyone going to ignore the fact that Thurston broke tedescos nose with a cheap shot, or would that be disrespectful
Origin fallout: Thurston filthy on NSW celebrations
Maloney and Moylan did get the result (at least in game 3) would be unfair to drop them unless their form next season doesnt warrant selcetion. Josh Reynolds is looking to the past, depending if they can keep the form going the Cronulla combo of Maloney and Townsend should deserve consideration. Alternatively Id go left field and keep a very close eye on Ivan Cleary for the rest of this season and early next season

Gallen has retired and I dont expect to see Farah or Greg Bird in an origin jersey again.
With the departure of such senior figures there will no longer be an environment of entitlement to a jersey but one of competition.
With the players blooded this series (Moylan, Bird, Frizzel, Tedesco, Mansour, Graham, Reynolds and Walker), players kicking down the door for selection (Leilua, Cartwright, The trbojevic brothers), and the potential return of Hayne, players who thought they had a few more origin series to look forward to are now looking over their shoulder (Jennings, Dugan, Ferguson, the morris brothers)
QLD will have the dilemma of whether or not they give their veterans another series as some of them didnt exactly light the world on fire this season (thaiday, Myles) particularly with a number of players becoming eligible for origin following their bans this year.
Have a cautious optimism for 2017.

After world cups there is always an exodus of players retiring or chasing bigger money, the issue is that Australia doesnt have the same depth as kiwis so there will always be a few challenging years. The 2017 or more likely 2018 will see the return of players from overseas into the super rugby with their bank accounts enhanced and eyeing off a run to the World Cup squad. Can be evident with The Brumbies making the grand final in 2013 and the Waratahs in 2014 taking the title. Whilst it isnt ideal it is no need to hit the panic button or sign the death warrant for Australian Rugby.
Ill be interested to see how the kiwi teams perform in the finals particularly against conferences that haven’t played against them all year. Predict that, despite the new format, for the second year in a row will be looking at an all kiwi final.
The worst Aussie Super Rugby round ever!
By all reports he is the sole provider for a very large family. Whilst loyalty is encouraged, professional athletes have a 5 year career if their lucky. can you really fault him for trying to make the most of it, particularly with the Eels and their current salary cap concerns. If he cant play origin, he is hoping for a few tests in the green and gold and the club being able to put a package forward that equals his worth as a player.
If french rugby want to pay him double or more what he is worth, rather than label players as mercenaries maybe the NRL should focus on how they can retain players rather than ban them
Is Semi about to become fully detached from the Eels?
What does Chad Townsend have to do to get a look in, was underrated at warriors who are struggling now that he has left, his side has 10 wins in a row to which he has contributed significantly. Partner him up with maloney and you have a halves combo high on confidence and authority in their team
Swing the axe, Laurie - NSW cleanout must start immediately
Jennings silly pass lead to a try, bad defensive read lead to a try, fingertips lead to a NSW no try and another knock on from a kick attempt cost another try. Call it what you want but that is a 16-24 point turnaround that can be directly attributed to Jennings. I actually rated him as one of NSW’ better players over the years but this has made me reconsider. Farah, Jennings, Bird and Gallen should never play origin again. Really thought Woods would stamp his authority on this series but now he and tamou are on notice

The dark Knights Bane when addressing the local supporter base
“The waratahs and the wallabies, where I learned the truth about despair, as will you. There’s a reason why supporting these teams is the worst hell on earth… Hope. Every man who has ventured here over the centuries has looked up to these teams and imagined climbing to championships. So easy… So simple… And like shipwrecked men turning to sea water from uncontrollable thirst, many have cried trying. I learned here that there can be no true despair without hope. So, as I terrorize supporters, I will feed its people hope to poison their souls. I will let them believe they can succeed so that you can watch them clamoring over each other to “stay in the match.” You can watch me torture an entire supporter base and when you have truly understood the depth of your failure, we will fulfill Eddie Jones destiny… We will destroy the wallabies, when it is done and their hopes are ashes, then you have my permission to cry.”
When it comes to the Wallabies, it's the hope that gets you
They arent standing by the comments because they have been called out on it. If this had not been called out it is unlikely they wouldn have done it on their own accord. The danger is that with the influence Eddie and co have in the game, these comments (intentional or not) can influence the wider AFL community in a negative way, all the good work of the day was undone by this. If as leaders they don’t see the potential damage things like this can cause the AFL then perhaps they dont have the best business/managerial sense to be leaders.
PS: There is a first time for everything and who knows the blues may win at suncorp
It's not Caroline Wilson, but Eddie, James and Danny who need to go
No one is telling you how to think Pies. Eddie, Sam, Brayshaw, Carey and anyone else are free to say and do what they like but there will and/or should be consequences for these actions. If they want to act like a peanut they deserve to be in the peanut gallery not as Representatives/leaders of AFL clubs or Role models for the game. Their indifference, inaction, and stupidity in McGuires case during the Goodes saga allowed it to fester when they could have used their influence to try and stop it.
It's not Caroline Wilson, but Eddie, James and Danny who need to go
Ever since the 08 grand final Cam Smith has had carte blanche, he could kill someone on the field and his side would get the penalty
How is touching a referee worse than stomping a player?

With gambling so ingrained in the game through sponsorship and advertising it is a very real danger of being questioned. I put a multi on every other week on the league but cant deny that league would be better off (not necessarily financially) without the significant presence of Betting agencies
NRL rocked by match-fixing claims, controversial gambler implicated
kind of hypocritical of NRL to condemn this so savagely when they happily accept millions every year from gambling companies

Origin 1 head-to-head: Which team sheet comes out on top?
So the reason for Manlys departure being?
Hard to justify a privately owned club being removed from NRL rather than ones currently under NRL ownership, but no lets remove one of the most successful teams of the past 30 Years
Rugby league expansion pack: Where to next for the NRL?
The only way for players to reduce the amount of games they play whilst keeping same salary or broadcast deal is to increase the amount of teams, could play fewer rounds but the additional teams would mean there are more televised games over the year. Also could potentially allow for standalone weekends.
Side note they really missed an opportunity to merge more teams after super league war, these teams would have been great
Adelaide Rams and Canberra Raiders = The Ram-Raiders
Sharks and Steelers = The Sheelers

If you cant win the comp change the comp, since the bulls last won the title in 2010 there has only been 1 South African team in a Grand final. With the player drain to European Rugby South African teams have been unable to compete outside of South Africa, the current structure hopes to remedy this. Unless each conference plays each other it will be hard to claim that the structure of the competition is fair and balanced.
Have the Lions handed the Super Rugby title to the New Zealand teams?
