And that’s on top of having to play matches on Sundays.
Never known a religious rule that couldn’t be broken when money is at stake!!

SA government deals major blow to AFL restart plans

Max King plays for St Kilda, not the Suns. His twin, Ben, signed a 2 year Contract extension in 2019 with the Suns.
As did Jack Lukosius.
As did Izak Rankine.

Max will hopefully be a Sun once he comes out of contract with the Saints. I mean, it’s not as if he is ever gonna play finals footy with the Saints :)))

The ten players your team can least afford to lose: Gold Coast Suns

Hey Gyros, I mentioned St Kilda coz they are the largest Melbourne drain on AFL finances.
The Roos have bludged on the AFL by playing, and getting subsidised, for seasons with games in Canberra, then GC and now Tassie. Good on em they have gamed the system to their advantage. Meanwhile St Kilda just, well, exist without much meaning.

Tassie premier wants struggling club replaced with Tasmanian team

Still shows your “..Get rid of the GC” comment is biased in favour of Melbourne basket cases, so when you make a biased comment I have every right to call it dumb.
PS: no comment on St Kilda?

Wondering why Lennox Head has been ditched for Tamworth?
Have the 5 Warriors reportedly currently in Lennox been too social?

NRL confirm season length, lock in date for grand final

Yet another dumb “get rid of the Suns” comment.
The true problem in AFL is a club like St Kilda:
* 93 years to win their first and only premiership
* In existence for 147 years and still a financial basket case.
* 147 years and only 43,000 members and still falling.
* Suns have rec’d $112 million from the AFL over the last 5 years – St Kilda $102 million from the AFL – only clowns would argue that St Kilda are the better investment.

The Brisbane Bears are in the same financial basket case boat as St Kilda – 34 years going and still got $102 million over the last 5 years.

Is that you Nick ?

The Wrap: Unravelling Australian rugby’s unholy war

Regretfully Mr Rennie has no chance, caught between the current player Mafia and the former captain collection of village idiots.

The Wrap: Unravelling Australian rugby’s unholy war

How’s the winning culture been going lately?

Australian rugby has its problems, but Raelene Castle was not one of them

UnAustralian

Australian rugby has its problems, but Raelene Castle was not one of them

10 Australian Captains and all In Australian.
You disgrace your parents.

Hey Mr Right,
Re your comment “This heavy support hasn’t had to continue for the Lions or the Swans.”
Does NOT apply to the Brisbane Bears , who while doing okay on the footy field, are still a financial basket case after 34 years in Qld – $102 million from the AFL last 5 years….and the uninformed keep bagging the Suns at $112 million over the past 5 years.

The AFL has a chance to reboot the competition

I didn’t watch AFL games on a regular basis for over a decade and a half.
Aussie Rules belongs to the people and not to the AFL, so thankfully plenty of local footy to keep me interested.
Foundation Member of the Suns so get my fill of AFL these days – hopefully it won’t take us 93 years to win our first flag. ????
Once the VFL decided to go national Fitzroy’s days were numbered – can’t stop progress but that doesn’t mean that you have to like it.
On a side note my old mate Barry Rogers (who has since passed away) took South Melbourne to Sydney and was very successful in taking a fair slice of the Bloods family with him – a truly great sporting Administrator.

The AFL has a chance to reboot the competition

The clowns have even caused concern in NZ. This from today’s NZ Herald:

Eleven Former Wallaby Captains Lose the Plot.
That could have been the headline.
Or maybe ‘Knuckleheads Unite’.

And thank goodness for Wallaby super greats John Eales and Tim Horan, plus the highly respected Andrew

Captains' call offers nothing by way of real Rugby Australia solutions

Sorry for the delay in response Mr Right, I’ve been neck deep with business challenges.
All I said was a loathe the Brisbane Bears – am I not entitled to that opinion?
And if it was a merger as the AFL and the Bears claim then why do the Bears list their game record holder as Simon Black when Kevin Murray played more games for Fitzroy?

Heavy Funding huh? Hasn’t been an issue for the AFL giving St Kilda $102 million over the last 5 years (only $10 million less than the Suns in that same 5 year period). You remember St Kilda, the team that took 93 years to win their first flag. The club that has been going 147 years and is still the AFL’s charity program.

The AFL has a chance to reboot the competition

Seriously, the lunatics want to take over the asylum ????
Ex players should remain just that- EX.

11 former Wallaby captains sign letter calling for Rugby AU leadership resignations

Hi jc

Your comment “To me most of it seems to come from loud mouthed people…”.
Welcome to the world today – every year seems to get worse with the SHOUTERS getting louder, thinking it is a loudmouth competition but offering absolutely nothing to civilised debate.
Witness:
* Tony Abbott, Scomo and the little fella who is Treasurer
* Shorten, Burke and the left
* The US Democratic Party
* Trump and Republicans in general
* Brexit
* Anti-Brexit

And Kearns as CEO with RA plus Gould as CEO at NRL – you gotta be kidding me, the world has gone crazy.

I fear the only way out of this is to destroy RA, the NRL, the AFL and the FFA/A-League – none of them represent the true sporting spirit this country once had.

Cheers

What really is News Corp's rugby end game?

Gil should lead the way by disclosing his salary. It is morally bankrupt for the CEO of a major business to hide their remuneration. Every ASX listed company and every Charity discloses CEO pay. If the AFL and NRL continue to hide CEO pay then the Government should stop giving the leagues multi million dollar grants.

Should AFL players’ contracts be public?

I am a life long Fitzroy man.
I loathe the Brisbane Bears.

The AFL has a chance to reboot the competition

“..otherwise they will switch codes.”
What codes??

The NRL needs to change from a culture of greed to survive

I am after transparency Beni.
Prior to gutlessly hiding his income Gil was on over $1.7million. Let’s say he is now on $5million then an 80% cut still means he is earning $1 million and that simply is not good enough at this time.
“…the man is till working – and working more hours than anyone…” – what, no-one else at AFL House, staff and board are still working????? Doctors and Nurses aren’t working? Your local Woolies or Coles staff on near minimum wage (and being ripped off by their employers) aren’t working?
Gil is no hero – the real heroes are those on the front line of this pandemic and those who have lost income and are trying their level best to look after their families.
So put up or shut up Gil.

Dear Gil: An open letter to the AFL CEO

80% cut of what?
Why is his pay a secret?
Every ASX listed company Annual Report shows individual key executive salaries – but not the AFL – Where is the transparency?

Dear Gil: An open letter to the AFL CEO

But the school girls in Canterbury will be skipping classes.
