I agree with you. The commercial channels thrive on controversy but I am thoroughly sick of the negativity. They have opportunities to promote the good points of a fine game and instead they nitpick, find fault, denigrate and whinge.
The CH 9 person who feeds them their ‘angle’, the director/cameraman who follows players with close-ups until they shout ‘F***, and the sound man who turns up the crowd noise until it’s painful should be shown the dressing room door.
Even better give the tele rights back to the ABC where we’ll get more facts, more civility and less marketing and antagonistic BS.

I’m also talking about what a waste of time listening to the CH 9 game is. I CAN’T HEAR the commentary! I’d like to hear Rabs and Sterlo (and their mindful, intelligent commentary) but the Ch 9 soundman wants me to hear only the mindless shouting, cheering rhubarb and white noise from the fans in the stands.
It's time for NRL media to give the referees a break
