Yeah they don’t put it on out here, I’m sure they do in the city where they are really pushing the Super Rugby.

The Wrap: Rugby’s devil is in the detail

I am a League and a Football fan, but i support Olympic and not the Wanderers.
Why would i support them when they undermine the Eels?

We're all to blame for The World Game shutting down

These ratings are published by media week and they are generally OZtam ratings, people often argue they are unreliable but there must be something to them as that is what networks use when they set the tariffs for their advertisers.
The streaming numbers are there it is just up to the a league to publish them.

We're all to blame for The World Game shutting down

It is a respect issue, early on they treated Eels fans poorly when they should have been working with them.
Now they are wondering why people aren’t coming out to their fantastic ground?

We're all to blame for The World Game shutting down

Why is it totally the NRL’s responsibility? aren’t these players employed by their club? If they are it is both the Melbourne Storm and the NRL’s duty of care for their employer (well it is in NSW and i guess it is too in VIC) but you are correctly going after the NRL- who yes are handling this issue poorly – but what about some criticism for Melbourne? They put 3 of their injured employees back into a hazardous environment without properly being assessed by a Dr. Average play from them too, just because they are Melbourne does not mean they are above scrutiny.

The NRL should have avoided this HIA Storm

I think that was the Panthers and I’m not sure that was such a terrible idea. I am talking about covering up iconic Eels players statues, the stands that players were named after and either club not offering members discounts to each other? The Eels aren’t much better but at least they are trying to fill up Bankwest.

That looked like a great game on Saturday night, shame I couldn’t watch it as I was at the club having dinner with my family. Why didn’t Rugby Australia sort this out?

The Wrap: Rugby’s devil is in the detail

I think you are off the mark here, yes Sports crowds are down in numbers across the country, which is why the Parramatta crowd is particularly impressive, especially when compared with the wanderers crowd and the fact that the NRL crowd is dwarfing a football crowd in Parramatta speaks volumes.
The Stadium was built primarily for the wanderers, they were getting the huge crowds and vocal support and absolutely giving it to the Eels, no one expected the Eels to make the stadium their own the way they have because they never dis it at the old stadium and they never got near the Sydney Derby crowds at Homebush. But now Wanderers crowds are suffering because rather than working with the Eels they went to war with them and made us supporters feel isolated. I have supported The Eels and Olympic since I move d to oz as a kid, why would I then support a team that covers statues of one of our legends?

There is still plenty of places to have something to eat and drink in Parra, it’s only the stadium end of church Street that’s really affected.
The tahs could run busses from the East and have a BIG pre game function at the league’s club.
Make a day of it! Build the atmosphere

Can New South Wales solve its crowds crisis?

Winning games goes without saying, but still even in a poor season crowds of below 5000 in giant stadiums in unacceptable, the Eels came dead last a few years and had no home ground and still managed to average over 10 000. This is the biggest club in NSW they need to do better attendance wise.

Can New South Wales solve its crowds crisis?

Thank you LBJ but I can only write from my own experiences and out at Parramatta we don’t have the members or the resources to prop up the Waratahs, have you been to a two blues game? There is only a few hundred and A lot of us are not rich like the other SS clubs.
Although I did mention the Tahs seeking out passionate fans at clubs and giving them tickets.

Can New South Wales solve its crowds crisis?

I have made it known I’m an old school NSL Sydney living Greek migrant, so I have never been one to love the A-League.
But I will say this for the competition, compared to others Leagues around Australia it was probably (along with the AFL) one of the only leagues to have a culture of attendance. A few years ago, in sticky hot weather Victory fans would flock to AAMI park, same with Wanderers fans at Parra stadium.
They just need to tap into that again, if they can build that culture of attendance people will pay attention again and the league will fill the coffers and the A- League will become a power house again.

Has Victory's dreadful season doomed the A-League to dire metrics?

Geoff, Stan/Nine will never stop beating the drum about the Chieka Waratahs story because they need something from the Tahs and that’s a great narrative- the prodigal son returns to Sydney to right the ship- Last week week 100K watched the Tahs on Gen where as Saturday only 65k watched the match. Nine need the Tahs to be front and centre of all Rugby News.
Also what’s with the not announcing crowds? Seriously they are bad, everyone knows it so announce them own them and tell us fans how they will make them better!

The Wrap: Super Rugby AU and Aotearoa anxiously hovering on the bubble

I love the optimism on the Roar by Waratahs fans I really do but it ain’t going to happen. Our forwards have been breasted every match and they just aren’t up to it, it’s hard to watch.
On that are they expecting a massive crowd on Saturday? Because I got an email about special event Clearways and extra busses from the Waratahs this week.

Could the Waratahs deliver the upset of the season?

Another week another Waratahs loss, stop trying to polish a turd Geoff, we are horrendous. God help the crowd at ANZ!!

The Wrap: Richie Mo’unga takes it to another level at Eden Park

One of the biggest Industries up there is tourism and that’s shot to bits, so there is no investment up there. The Jets are probably in the Newcastle Herald every week but local press doesn’t mean tickets sold. The A-League needs to out expansion on hold and focus on filling the games you have at present not adding more teams.

Why shouldn't Cairns be home to an A-League club?

He’s got a point, the Gem ratings are posted after each game but the Stan numbers are elusive

I like your positivity Farthing but I was at that game at Bankwest and the crowd seemed poor from where I was sitting, me and my friends our kids and one other small group was in our bay that was it. Plus if the crowd number was encouraging why wouldn’t they release it? As someone who lives 10 minutes from Parramatta I’m happy they are playing so much there but they need to do a lot of work, particularly in building the game day atmosphere around the stadium

Hope for the weeping Waratahs fan

The stadium is ten minutes from my house so I really have no excuse, I enjoy the late start because it lets me have dinner with the family and a few beers on church Street with my friend before the match.
It was a good contest and at least we were improved I just wish there was some more atmosphere there.
But at the end of the day we have lost 3 in a row and get absolutely hammered in 2 of them, as a while organisation we are stinking the competition up and something whether it’s coach, players or management needs to improve rapidly or there will be no fans left, seriously who is going to go out to watch that junk?

The Wrap: 153 reasons why Waratahs coach Rob Penney must be left alone

That’s a good way to look at it Bear, it was very easy to get a drink on Friday.

The Wrap: 153 reasons why Waratahs coach Rob Penney must be left alone

No I’m not a fair weather fan, I went on Friday night ( unlike a lot of other fans) and I saw some improvement but I also reserve the right to be disappointed and even angry how we seem to have chalked this season up to the “building” narrative.

The Wrap: 153 reasons why Waratahs coach Rob Penney must be left alone

As a fan who has watched their team get flogged twice then lose a very winnable game at home I don’t take much solace from the list you produced.
Yes you technically are right but is fans just can’t write off such a bad start to a season as the way the ‘Rugby’ world is. Every season we want our team to win a title and if they disappoint like this any longer there will be no one left.
There wasn’t many there at Bankwest on Friday anyway and they won’t announce a crowd figure, but if they keep losing we will be able to count it on one hand.

Thanks for writing about Women’s sports Mary, my 8 year old daughter painstakingly reads every article you write. The fact a Greek girl writes about Cricket makes her very happy.
In regards to your article I agree to a point but I also worry that if the League expands to quick the standard may suffer.
The AFLW often gets criticised about poor standards of play but the NRLW never does, any expansion plans need to work hard to keep this standard up.

I want more for the NRLW in 2021

My point is that the Roar can no longer use Covid as an excuse for punters not turning up, the Broncos on the weekend showed that punters are ready to come back to sport in Queensland and the Roar need to stop making excuses and start selling out Redcliffe, because if the NRL can for a TRIAL the A-League can for a big match.

Amazing A-League must bring fans back into stadiums

Didn’t you know Mick? Football is just for big City fans that’s why the A-League has teams in Gosford and Newcastle.
