McDonald was “selected” by the players because he is subservient to Captain Pat. I agree, Ponting would be better, but I doubt he wants the job. Cummin’s captaincy was poor in this series – far too defensive and that permanent smile and dearth of brutal honesty at press conferences is wearing thin. I reckon Head would be better
The best coach for the Australian cricket team was at the Ashes but in the commentary box
It takes plenty of time to develop into a good test batsman
Flem's Verdict: Stokes’ spirit of cricket goes out the window over catch while ICC needs to sort out ludicrous ball-swap farce
I am concerned about our batting for the next Ashes in England. Right now there is not one young batsman (< 26) who is even tapping on the door let alone knocking it down. I still have everything crossed that Pucovski comes good

Agree on the “tactics too negative”. That is the captain’s responsibility. Cummins should be replaced by Head. And we need a youth injection to start the rebuild. My team for the next test: Renshaw, Khawaja, Labuschagne, Smith, Head, Green, Inglis, Cummins, Starc, Morris, Murphy. Why no Marsh? because he is a hit-and-miss player and therefore not a test top 6 batsman; and his bowling is worse than Green’s and he is much older than Green and he is a worse fielder than Green. Why no Lyon and Hazelwood? because they are too old and have good much younger alternatives in Harry Potter and Morris
Test-mortem: Bazball ultimately a little too reckless against Australian crawl - Where Ashes was won, lost and drawn
It is the title of a book……

It will be a flop because Bazball works best on roads; and the Indians will prepare minefields

The biggest errors made by the Aussies (not in any order):
1. Too much short-ball bowling and not bowling the top of off length enough
2. Dropping Murphy for test 4
3. Retaining Marsh for tests 4 and 5
4. Selecting Warner for the tour
5. Dropping Green for test 5

If it had not rained in Manchester England would have won that game – no one disputes that. But if it had not rained in Manchester, the results of ALL THE OTHER GAMES are unknown because it may have rained at any other time. You cant have your cake and eat it to you silly Poms

Here’s hoping we lose this game because that is the only outcome that could change our selection policy. Warner should have gone loooooong ago
Warner loss sours Aussie comeback as Starc inspires England collapse despite drops aplenty
Warner should have been dropped from the test team before this series. Drop the selectors and replace them with an independent selection panel
Warner loss sours Aussie comeback as Starc inspires England collapse despite drops aplenty
Let’s hope your prediction is wrong as Marsh is not a test-quality all-rounder. His batting average is below Green’s, his bowling average is above Green’s, his age is above Green’s and he is a worse fielder than Green. Green is the better allrounder and should have been persevered with despite Marsh’s flash-in-the-pan ton
