We all said the same thing about Rogers too and then he top scored over the 10 tests against England. You pick best available and Klinger is better than Doolan, Hughes, Khawaja etc.
Yes Hazlewood is another but have Coulter Nile in front of him due to his pace
Settled line-ups are for winners: Drop O'Keefe and Marsh
To be honest neither doolan or Hughes are good enough. Would like to see someone who has shown great consistency in domestic cricket for a long time get a go. Rogers showed us that age is not a big issue, it’s simply about picking the best XI so in that case I would look to Michael Klinger to bat at 3 he has been very consistent for long periods of time and was fantastic in the one day final on sunday.
Obviously the more immediate issue is the second test and as much as I hate to say it, Hughes has to come back in. Doolan was all at sea and should be dropped. Other than that probably would drop Siddle for Faulkner to give our pace bowling a bit of a variety. Marsh stays, mainly because the other option is Maxwell and that fills me with dread.
Settled line-ups are for winners: Drop O'Keefe and Marsh
Don’t blame the bowlers, blame the batsmen. Doolan, Marsh and Clarke looked all at sea against the Paki spinners on a pitch that really wasn’t that hard to bat on.
Drop Doolan – Give Hughes one chance otherwise we need to find someone else perhaps experienced like Klinger or Voges for India series.
Don’t Drop Marsh- only because the option of Maxwell is even worse. Watto comes back for India series
Don’t drop O’Keefe: If anything he looked better than Lyon
But For India Series my XI would be: Warner, Rogers, Klinger, Clarke, Smith, Watto, Haddin (or Whiteman if he retires), Johnson, Harris (if fit otherwise Coulter Nile or Paris), Pattinson, Lyon/ O’Keefe
Settled line-ups are for winners: Drop O'Keefe and Marsh
Tim you are spot on, As a dockers fan it’s hard to admit but both the 13 GF and 14 SF we choked. kicking so many behinds was so frustrating. Watching a replay of that 13 GF was painul, but I am sure it was simply a lack of experience playing a side full of seasoned campaigners who had been there before.
The 14 SF was partly due to a lack of injuries but also in the first half we were all over port and should have put them away but left the door ajar and as I am sure you hawks fans are well aware of, Port can come back from anywhere.
Fremantle's trading snooze: Sleeping giant or asleep at the wheel?
I don’t know if you watched the Sydney V Freo QF this year, But Silvagni and Dawson were Freos two best players. Silvagni held Franklin to 1 goal and it was only because of a john Longmire masterstroke to send Buddy into the middle where he kicked those two late matchwinners and Silvagni was not his direct opponent at the time.
Dawson was all over Tippett all game.
Personally I would take Silvagni and Dawson over Frawley, Schoenmakers any day of the week
Fremantle's trading snooze: Sleeping giant or asleep at the wheel?
Yes but I think what you gave up was greater than what you gained,
Out: Christensen- a fantastic young midfielder, Varcoe- has a bit of x-factor, Pick 14 (could be just as good as pick 10), Pick 35 (second rounder)
In: Stanley- inconsistent spud, Clark- doubts over his mental state and is injury prone, pick 10 (not much difference to 14), Pick 47 (third round pick, good chance it will be a spud)
If I was a Cats fan I would much rather what you had to begin with, to what you ended up with
Fremantle's trading snooze: Sleeping giant or asleep at the wheel?
Geelong traded pick 21 for a complete Spud in Stanley who is no better than tabs, Apeness who Freo have already and took a massive risk in recruiting Clark, he could easily have another mental breakdown and then won’t play again.
I would say that because the cats lost Christensen and Varcoe and gained Stanley and Clark, comparing to Freo losing no one that Freo have in fact had a better trade period than the cats
Fremantle's trading snooze: Sleeping giant or asleep at the wheel?
Yes that is true we do need a CHF but there is no one around that will do any better than Tabs or Apeness anyway. It’s no use picking up an overrated spud such as Jarrad Waite like North did, much better to trust in your own youngsters and pick up more in the draft if you need to. At least with the youngsters they have 10 years of footy left, Waite has two at the most.
I believe that Freo made the right decision to pick up youngsters this year, which is what Ross didn’t do at St Kilda. The recruiting sets freo up for a premiership tilt next year and then even after Pav and Sandi depart our youngsters will be more developed and the likes of Fyfe, Walters, Neale and Hill are all in their prime ready for another premiership chance in 2-3 years from now.
Fremantle's trading snooze: Sleeping giant or asleep at the wheel?
No i think you misunderstood me
I am saying that as no other ground can seat 100,000 people only the MCG can host the GF, sorry for the confusion I agree with you
Time to move the grand final away from the MCG
The t20 big bash has tried the top team getting to host the GF, hoping that the Melbourne stars would get in but unluckily for them it has been at the WACA every time which seats about 15,000 people.
The AFL is doing the right thing, The MCG is the home of football and the only place that seats 100,000 people.
You would not get that atmosphere anywhere else.
Its the same as the FA cup where the GF is always at Wembley Stadium.
Time to move the grand final away from the MCG
No other ground can seat 100,000 people
Therefore they cannot host the GF!
Time to move the grand final away from the MCG
Yes Jax you are correct, I have a particular dislike for West Coast supporters that at the tiniest bit of success, go on and on and on. I have friends still boasting over the 2006 premiership Seriously that was 8 years ago!
I am certainly looking forward to 2015 when once again WC come into the season with such high expectations and then once again fail to deliver!
Enjoy being the bridesmaids for another year.
Will catch up with you for another chat once Freo win another derby
See you then Jax
2014 Brownlow Medal winner: It's Matt Priddis
The Brownlow is an innacurate showing of who has had the best season
As we can see with Priddis it awarded consistency but not who has the most influence on the game
By getting rid of Luke Parker, Dyson Heppell and Aaron Sandilands you are getting rid of 3 players who had such a big influence on their sides in 2014. Brownlow votes are not the way to measure who had the best year!
Picking the All-Australian side after the Brownlow
Whats all this Freo hats csh
Freo deserved to make the 2013 GF
just like Hawthorn and Sydney deserve to make the 2014 GF
Fremantle were the second best side last year and unfortunately they weren’t good enough this year
The top 2 sides always make the GF
And the winner is... Sydney!
Don’t write off the Hawks!
Yes Swans deserve to be favourites but only slight favourites.
The Hawks will give the Swans a huge run for their money
don’t also forget that Hawks haven’t left the MCG this finals meanwhile Swans have been playing on that muddy paddock out in the backblocks of Sydney.
Still giving it to the Swans…………..Just
Should be a ripper game
And the winner is... Sydney!
Don’t try and use injuries as an excuse when there are sides above you that were cruelled by injuries more than you. Hawthorn and Fremantle suffered much greater injuries, try taking out 3 of your best players for a finals series and see how you fare!!!
WC are only going downhill and this is on the back of some shocking recruitment calls that you will dread such as Naitinui over Rich and Hill and Tom Swift over Nat Fyfe and Ash Smith over Michael Walters.
Also btw Port Finished 6th last year in Kenny’s first year in charge
Freo finish 6th in Ross’s first year in charge
AND
Geelong win the premiership in Chris Scott’s first year in charge!

I guarantee you a fair few dockers fans besides the Don are not happy with this outcome.
2014 Brownlow Medal winner: It's Matt Priddis
Yes against the bottom sides, I’m sure he was a tower of strength and influence, but against the top sides he like the whole Eagles side went missing.
Yes he is a good player, I am questioning whether he was the best player this year and considering who he got his votes against I do not think he was.
2014 Brownlow Medal winner: It's Matt Priddis
yes agreed but it seems a forward has to kick at least 8 to get votes, 4 is certainly an important contribution in a close win

Why don’t you listen Jax?
Winston makes the exact same point that I am trying to make, Priddis is a good player but not the most influential player on the ground and this is the problem that I have with how the umpires judge who gets 3 votes.
The fact that Robbie Gray got 14 votes when he has singlehandedly helped Port Adelaide across the line in games and helped them make FINALS suggests to me that he was more influential than priddis across the season and henceforth is more deserving of the Brownlow

How can you say Casboults mark was better than Wingards?
Dawson’s rd 23 hangar against Port was better than all 3 because of the handpass afterwards, Classic Zac!

Yes good attack but who bowls spin?
Steve Smith perhaps?
