Djokovic dismantled Federer in the SF and Murray was very lucky to make it through to the final against Raonic. If Raonic didn’t get injured, Murray would be on the plane home.

Djokovic to win in straight sets, making a statement that he is ranked and seeded No. 1 for a reason.

2016 Australian Open: Men's final preview

They need to name the players who have allegedly participated in, or knew about this. They can’t do that without solid evidence.

Until it is proven, anyone who has lost a match as heavy favourite will be under suspicion.

Where there's smoke, there's tennis match-fixing fire

This will cast doubt over any player who dares to pull out of a match due to injury. There have been many matches where a player inexplicably loses. It’s going to be difficult to prove past results though.

Tennis rocked by match-fixing allegations

It must be very embarrassing for Stosur and it was awkward to watch. It was good to see that Stosur had some chances in the second set but as Pliskova wasn’t moving, it should have been much easier than Stosur made it. At the moment, Stosur is self-sabotaging her game. Overplaying points, going for impossible angles and allowing her much less experienced opponents to dictate.

I think Stosur needs to watch the U.S. Open Final where she demolished Serena. The way she played on that day, nobody would have defeated her. The confidence and conviction in each of her points was outstanding. She needs to take note of what she did, how she handled the pressure points and somehow find a way to build some confidence and belief back into her game.

Stosur's Melbourne Park woes intensify

Stosur never looked comfortable on court. If Pliskova recovers quickly she could be a dangerous floater.

As for Stosur, even against an injured qualifier, she didn’t have the game to win. On paper, there really was no reason why she shouldn’t have won. Pliskova couldn’t move but Stosur somehow managed to choke anyway.

These are the types of matches that should be easy for Stosur as a past Grand Slam champion…

2016 Australian Open: Draw analysis and predictions

To admit on court mid-match that he didn’t care about the tournament was incredibly arrogant. Yes he is confident about his Open chances but nothing is guaranteed. He could lose in the first round and his ranking would plummet! Loved Stubbs’ twitter comment which said that Bernie will not win the Australian Open so should have focussed on something he could win.

Tomic withdraws from Sydney

It is expected that Tomic will win this match, but the condescending comments about Thompson from the commentators is unnecessary. The way they are talking it is though Thompson is not worthy of even being on the same court as Tomic.

Hewitt’s ‘never say die’ attitude is a major reason he was successful. Many of the articles written about his career suggest Hewitt should have retired earlier when he was at his best, but it’s an individual choice. Regardless of how he finishes at the Open this year he would have defied expectations over a 20 year career.

Lleyton Hewitt's career has gone on too long

The Australian Open tests the players like no other. If the players have not prepared and fine-tuned their skills in the off-season or are not mentally ready to fire early on, it really shows. Btw, it is tennis’ so well done to the author.

Why the Australian Open is tennis' best slam

Good luck to both of them! It’s a great start to the season and they should go into AO with the belief that they have the ability to take out some top players. Hoping to see a favourable draw. At least Krygios and Tomic will both be seeded this year.

The new-look Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic

Hewitt’s legacy will be how he never gave up despite all of the critics and injuries. He is renowned for his marathon match efforts and we can be certain that his last match on Rod Laver Arena will also demonstrate his fighting spirit.

Lleyton Hewitt: An underdog story

If he plays like that consistently, he can shake the draw this year. An awesome effort so far.

How many times has an athlete turned up to the Australian Open with an ‘injury’ and blitzed the competition? A lack of matchplay prior to the tournament tends to be an advantage as there is less chance of making the ‘injury’ more serious, and of course lures their opponents into a false sense of security.

I’m struggling to think of a year where Serena hasn’t said she is injured!

Huge injury cloud over women's top tennis stars

Hewitt will win his 1st round and go out in the 2nd, but in a 5 setter.
Tomic and Kyrgios will both make the 4th round with one making the QF
Groth – 2nd round
Millman out in 1st round, Duckworth in 2nd round
Stosur through to QF for the first time (roughie but she has to do it eventually)
Dellacqua, Gavrilova and Wolfe/Gajdosova – 2nd round

How will our Aussies fare at the Open?

Once Serena is retired, the field will be wide open but I think Sharapova has the potential to dominate. Halep is too inconsistent even though she is the current no. 2. Muguruza maybe in a few years.Madison Keys hasn’t really climbed the rankings as fast as the others but is a strong competitor.

When Serena retires, who is the next superstar of women's tennis?

It would be great to see Stosur achieve success at home but she is almost unbearable to watch. If she finds a way to fight back to win a set, you find yourself waiting for her to self-implode and lose in 3 sets, as was the case last night. The first round against Cepelova (a player much lower in the rankings) was also far from convincing despite the rankings difference.

She has the ability, strength and experience to beat these players! Stosur has won a grand slam and made another grand slam final, so she should have the belief and presence when on court in these preliminary rounds.

It is great to see that Stosur is not wearing the sunnies when playing now though.
