Agree completely AZ!!!!! As a Mariners Member, i really enjoyed the active support area at Gosford. I had a GA membership & could sit almost anywhere I wanted depending on who went with me. If this is forced onto people, I won’t be able to be in the active support (and our numbers aren’t great as it is) as i will need to sit with family (kids) at some matches. I don’t see why some people at some clubs ruin it for everyone, the Mariners need all the members they can get, not reasons for fans to not invest in the club!!!

A-League to introduce 'Active supporter' areas

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. You are a Manly fan, hence my defense of anyone debating you. Anyone having a go at a Manly fan is alright in my book!

When did i question your right to respond?

Manly have shown time and again that they simply will not travel top support their team. Last year, the first week of the finals, Manly played away to the Dogs at Homebush, 36,420 fans and mostly dogs fans at that. The next week, Manly’s home semi against the Cowboys, less than 17,00 turned up!

For a team going through a ‘good run over the past few years’ your fans have made a mockery of showing support for your team. If 20,000 can rock up at Brookie, why can’t 30,000 turn up to a home Semi that is so close to home?

Most other clubs are increasing crowd numbers & memberships, stabilising their finances & boards. Manly are still living in the 70s, nearly broke, in fighting, delapidated stadium and if a team is pressured into moving from the Sydney market, i will be leading the cause to have Manly moved to become the Wynnum-Manly Sea Eagles!

The Bears are dead, long live the Bears

You keep saying that you won’t engage with 81Paling over & over but keep coming back for more…..looks like you like it to me!
Aligning with Manly is the worst form of anything!

The Bears are dead, long live the Bears

And I note that my discrediting of Bearfax’s assertion that we are the same person has gone unanswered. ‘Good try but caught out’ says Bearfax……..well…..still think we are the same person?

The Bears are dead, long live the Bears

I have no idea who 81paling is. Knowledge of an issue normally comes from research or life experience. As I’ve stated, I’ve never lived in the North Shore, plenty of other places, but not the North Shore. I have relatives there and lots of friends that support the Bears. I was also born in Gosford and as of 1998, the Bears contributed to the funding used to build Bluetongue stadium, so I have kept an interest in supporting the club as my 2nd team.

The ‘outing’ comment was as follows ‘Well done 81p for outing Bearfax as the name is misleading & he should change it.’. It references your name, not your comments or view point so I have no idea why you have made this assumption. The teams that I support are of no relevance to this discussion so no idea why you would waste your time making this comment…maybe you’ve nothing better to do? I know I’ve examined the issue, the Bears to be reinstated at an appropriate time, probably after Perth & the second Brisbane team and Manly to either move or die. My position is not at the expense of other supporters, name a group of supporters that want Manly to survive! I think you’ll find that most rugby league fans hate Manly.

The Coast is full of people from all over, some from the West, Some from the East, Sadly some Manly fans have discovered our little paradise too. Most are after a holiday home or a more relaxed lifestyle, the cost of living is much less and let’s face it, we’ve got beaches, you’ve got gun crime!

The people that are from a wealthier area can sell there, buy here & fund a very nice life, I know we have bogans but they aren’t everywhere. In fact, both peninsulas are physically beautiful, if only we could nuke the scum from both the world would be much better. Most people from western Sydney stay in western Sydney, judging on my experience and the experience of nearly all that I speak to about this, most new Coasties are from the Northern or coastal areas of Sydney.

I find it most incredible that a Norths fan would change to become a Manly fan, it is the most horrible thing that I can think of, in the world (way worse than Genocide or the Holocaust!). To go from a club with such history to follow that murdering pack of scum is an affront to all bears fans.

Now to your ‘outing’ based on writing styles.
I chose to write in the same style as 81paling because it was written in a style that can be understood by a typical Manly fan. To compare the writing assumes that you have been back through all my previous posts – and since you came to the conclusion that 81paling & I are the same person, it is clear that you have not! I am now expecting to have to wait until you have this reply explained to you by someone that has a normal IQ instead of the average IQ of the typical manly fan.

Apart from offending Bears fans in general, now Bearfan has been sick by your continued use of your name. It is time to change it, regardless of its heritage. I congratulate the community in your area for:

A: allowing a Manly fan to live there without being lynched, and;
B: The local Men’s Shed for allowing you use of the computer.

Finally, your comment ‘The fact that you claim not to have been a resident of the north shore, yet have a surprising knowledge of issues they face confirms for me that conclusion.’. In society, we teach our young in environments called schools, universities etc. Most students probably don’t have an in depth knowledge of the subject matter but are taught about it & then, if it interests them, they do a thing called research. I know that this may surprise you but it is actually how people learn about things. One need only to look at our Astonomers to understand this principle.

The Bears are dead, long live the Bears

If Watmough gets injured, Manly are Gooooone…

Manly battle to retain Glenn Stewart

It appears you have read the comment Bearfax but failed to comprehend it.
My comment said that people from the Northshore have holiday houses up there and have not moved there permanently, a fact demonstrated when ownership of McMasters beach is more than 80% holiday houses and that traffic on the Pacific highway from 2 pm onwards is bumper to bumper from Chatswood North and traffic is unaffected from any other main artery.
By the way I moved up here cause housing is cheaper and never lived on the Northshore and I never said that anyone from the Northern Beaches even comes up here.
The fact you have given your clear history of support is boring to everyone and has nothing to do with the issue so stop doing it. You are wrong when you say I have not read your comments, I have and so many of them have been proven to be incorrect that you cannot be trusted they are misleading and I was thanking 81p for pointing out what the facts are. For him then to inform you that NORTHS RLFC district is his community that his kids are involved in it is relevant and he is a grass roots supporter of the game. It is you Bearfax that is promoting your position at the expense of other fans and the game.

The Bears are dead, long live the Bears

I live in Gosford. Unemployment is huge here as is the suicide rate. Gosford & the coast have had no effort put into it by government it is seen as cheap housing to supply workers to Sydney. The injection this would give to our city would be huge (we have the soccer but, it is not the game we idolised as kids) for the Coasts sense of identity.
When the Bears 1st came here it was fantastic then the merger, really it was Manly & they just wanted to be at Brookvale with nothing to do with us. Talk of fortress Brookvale just turned everyone off. Now NRL comes to town rarely usually with out of town games of little interest but, when there is a good one it is huge & the city comes alive.
Our Beaches up here are owned by those from Norths district travelling up every weekend to weekend homes. The traffic on Fridays is tens of thousands greater than normal if only a fraction came to the games you are talking about an extra few thousand fans and for this reason the link to the Bears makes sense. Not having a team here robs the people and the game of dedicated fans & the the city of the re-birth
that such a great stadium could spark.
Well done 81p for outing Bearfax as the name is misleading & he should change it.

The Bears are dead, long live the Bears

That’s not why they changed the time of year that they play. The reason was that it was increasingly harder to get access to our National Team players during official FIFA breaks. The move has benefited our national team. When we used to play friendlies or competitive matches, the clubs that pay our players refused to allow them to play due to the large travel time & the risk of injury. Now, as the breaks are official, all of Europe stops as do we.

Melbourne Storm in league with a powerful new football friend

I’d love to see a knockout cup return to league! I would have all the group winners enter as well, it would give them exposure via the TV/media & provide an extra incentive to win their group.
Imagine the experience the players would get by being able to run out onto Suncorp etc. Conversely, think of the benefits that would come from an NRL team being drawn to play at the Dubbo Sports Ground etc.
Look at the crowd that turned up when Parra went west ealier this year, i think it sold out.
