you dont mention the 946 million deal which is the current and was an actual decrease on the previous deal per year.

He doesn’t mention it because that figure you cite, you made up.

Show us the bottom line! Football fans deserve to know the state of the APL's finances and the leagues they support

Carl Lewis. Let him sing it. He’s SO good at it.

Agreed. I would be asking for a refund if this is what my dues are going to.

I think Wasim Akram probably has him covered there.

Better bowler, bigger higher score

'Big achievement': Jason Gillespie secures major appointment as Pakistan Test coach

Lol

No it wouldn’t be.

Premiership medals have been put up at auction before and not collected anything remotely close to figures you’re suggestion.

Baggy greens rarely get to that figure unless the player is truly truly great

Best of a bad generation of NSW props at the time rather than a standout player.

He and Klemmer got WAY more rep opportunities than they would have if they were playing even 4-5 years earlier.

'Feigning injury': Aaron Woods and James Graham concerned players will start milking hip-drop tackles

No no…

You’ve got to bring out the best: Carl Lewis.

Check his rendition on youtube.

I don’t mind the idea of recognition to those in the squad – the 23 who played in the grand final absolutely do not get there if not for the valuable contributions made throughout the year by the squad.

But a ring? Yuck.

Just be like the Olympics in how they also give a medal to the relay runners in the heat. The finalists aren’t there if not for them.

Give a medal to the whole squad.

Why don’t we also sing the national anthem before the beginning of every single match too?

Better yet, why not just sing the Star Spangled Banner instead of our own anthem?

Hear hear.

The NRL did away with medals for rings and they look absolutely disgusting. The type of stuff a pimp would wear.

Absolutely enforce a punitive fine like 30k.

Even someone on $1m will actually miss $30k. It’s a solid chunk of money gone, and an even bigger chunk lost for good over 20 years, and quite a bit more than a weeks wage. It’s about 3 weeks wage.

Doing some napkin maths here, but someone on $1m gets about $550k, before agent fees need to be paid, which dips the take home pay to under 500k, so less than 10k a week.

Terrific money of course, but a 30k fine would represent three weeks or 6% of the annual salary.

They’ll obviously get over the loss faster, but it’s still a huge chunk. Especially when you consider how that 30k could have performed in an investment over the next 20 years…

Over 20 years, that’s about 85k (assuming 9% over the journey).

And for those on lower salaries where a $30k will be financially debilitating – it will teach them the value of respecting the ref.

Entitled NRL players trying to stand over Kasey Badger are in for a rude shock

Dissent is dissent. I’m happy with the bin straight away.

I’ll tell you something about Klemmer. He won’t talk again.

NRL Round 9 Talking Points: Abuse of Kasey Badger is way out of line - on and off the field

Nope.

Bin them straight away. Your way, while admirable, still offers 2-3 more opportunities to dissent the ref. Cut the middle man.

Cite the rules that state that catcat? I bet you can’t…it doesn’t exist.

The referee has discretion to enforce discipline for dissent how they see fit.

It’s why Halligan sent Tallis off, instead of marching them 10, then warning the captains, then sin binning someone, then sending them off.

He got a better offer at the end of the day.

I don’t think anyone was under any illusions that his gig here was just a pitstop in between mainstream role.

Massive overreaction to Sam Draper non-story proves players can't even enjoy harmless fun anymore

No matter what was said. Sounds like dissent to me…happy with the bin.

I miss those days

Sigh.

That’s not what I was referring to

NRL Round 9 Talking Points: Abuse of Kasey Badger is way out of line - on and off the field

You’re right. 19 penalties in the Knights game was ridiculous. Ridiculously low.

It should have been 150.

I think what you fail to remember is just how much refs actually let slide. If rugby league was officiated in accordance with the rules it would be non stop penalising.

Have you actually watched just how often teams fail to keep 10m at the play the ball? Between 150-200 times a game. There is barely ever a time when all 13 are behind the ref when the ball is played. Imagine the set restarts on that.

Players are looking to bend and break every rule, every single second of the game. That’s their job.

So, perhaps stop whinging about the refs and maybe ask players to follow the rules better.

NRL Round 9 Talking Points: Abuse of Kasey Badger is way out of line - on and off the field

I would never abuse anyone to their face or not so that is that one covered.

Right. Instead you’re absolutely ok with people abusing other people, just so long as you are personally not doing it.

Ok…a very interesting take on morality there, Dionysus. Is that what you teach your kids? “Kids, don’t abuse people, but if others do it and you’re nearby, just let them do it cause people need to toughen up. Don’t try and teach others to be better.”

You sure you don’t want to once more review what you are saying?

I tend to go with the don’t abuse someone for doing a job you are too gutless/incompetent/useless to do yourself – which i presume you, Phil Gould and a great many others neatly fit into one or more of those categories when it comes to refereeing, right?

For transparency, I definitely fit into any one of those three – which I why I don’t abuse the refs and would sooner prefer the other 20k at the stadium to stand down from.

NRL Round 9 Talking Points: Abuse of Kasey Badger is way out of line - on and off the field

Doesn’t matter about who asks for the cc and how, it’s existence gives players the idea to think the ref’s calls can be disputed and argued. It’s a cancer that spreads through the team and NB the CC gave birth to the arm waving and challenging.

You are aware the CC was introduced because of all the arguments and disputes players were having with refs, and all the arm waving and challenging BEFORE the CC was introduced?

You can’t seriously be suggesting this stuff wasn’t going on pre-CC.

That works for me too.

Six Points: Bevo's Bulldogs reach breaking point, dangerous tackle loophole must be closed, and 2024's worst coach-killer

Also, said by someone hiding behind his keyboard. So brave you are.

I’ll bet my lunch you’d never abuse someone like Fifita or Kikau to their face.

Bulldogs:
NRL: Back in the top for for the first time since…last week.

Is it because of Phil Gould that the Dogs are in the 8? Or is it the law of averages suggesting that they should be? I suspect the latter. No team stays rock bottom forever. Even the Tigers and Titans pop into the eight mid-season every now and then.
