Completely different situations.

I do agree that they way divorced fathers get treated in the family courts is an absolute disgrace, and I wouldn’t wish that on any parent (and touch wood, I don’t find myself in such a predicament).

But to compare that to DV is insane, or to water it down as scare mongering, well, is frankly what an abuser would say.

But the fact that they responded at all completely undermines your entire argument today.

It doesn’t matter whether someone else brought it up and the club responded. Your entire argument today is that a football club only needs to care about winning premierships. That they responded, proves you wrong.

If it was only premierships that is on their mind, they would have responded with silence.

It’s not kick and hope.

A good kick brings a try.

The kick is an important part of league. If we didn’t want kicking, we would already have reduced the size (and shape) of the ball.

NRL doesn't need any more rule changes but a tweak required for unintended consequences of seven-tackle set

Yeah, but in a world where we now have six-again being called at will the need for the 7 tackle 20m restart is greatly reduced.

Chances are that for ever 5-6 20m sets half of them are going to become a six again set anyway.

More of that all day long, Bunney.

Post of the day in my book.

The quality argument does not cut in the slightest when it comes down to watching NRL and AFL ex players boxing and they actually pay to watch it on pay for view, they are easily beaten by Australian boxers and only beat fat nobodies some of whom they have even paid to lose. Its beyond embarassing, the truth is people watch because the media have made them celebrities.

Actually, quite factually, the ratings for these ex-players boxing is quite terrible. No one cares. Only the hardcore fans do.

So, basically you agree with me.

Well done.

So it’s only the tripping you have a problem with?

Not the verbal harassment?

But you literally just said that it should all be on merit.

So, now that you clearly don’t believe that, I’m sure you wouldn’t object then to a woman being parachuted into a senior role at Parramatta simply because she knew someone?

You’re struggling to prove anything. All you are doing in engaging in speculation.

So, you’ve made assumptions without fact while chastising those making assumptions without fact.

Are you suggesting that he would’ve done so if Michelle vehemently opposed it ?

Are you telling me that a son/daughter must obtain the explicit consent of their parents before they can date someone?

The point is she is free to date who she wants. You cannot prove that the mother supports or doesn’t support it, so maybe you shouldn’t also engage in speculation and presumption?

no they aren’t. They are football players.

A lawyer is a lawyer. A doctor a doctor. A bus driver a bus driver. A football player, a football player. A warrior, a warrior. A politician a politician.

By your metric, the PM is a warrior (rose to the most elite political role in the country). The Chief Justice of the High Court is a warrior…

A football player is no different to any other profession. They perform a role, they get paid. They abide by the same laws, standards and behaviours as the rest of society and their employer as a result is allowed to set a standard that reflects modern 21st century society too.

Taylan May has been charged, and it is right of the employer to enforce their standard on him and stand him down..as pretty much every employer in the country would nowadays.

Yup. But it also means that you can’t sulk when they choose to do something.

7k…ok, but that’s still chump change in the bigger scheme of things and other sports in this county.

Your default response of “draws huge crowds globally” is, as usual, hopelessly irrelevant. The Secret Scout is quite specifically talking about Australian attendances, and I am responding to him within those parameters.

Same people couldn’t even tell you what AFL stands for, let alone bother to watch.

Good for them. I’m not judging them for not liking the AFL. You can like and dislike what you want. But it doesn’t change the fact that – in Australia – those NPL fans are a minority of sports fans in Australia, and particularly Victoria.

You can keep bragging about global as much as you like, but adds no relevance to the argument about the state of the game in Australia.

If you need to cling to it, good for you. But you’ll win no argument with it.

PS I’d say the quality of most A League matches is as good as what we saw last night

Agreed, but the A-League players have to play their guts out to match what was played last night – a bunch of players simply turning up for contractual obligations, with most of the seconds having a go.

It’s called rugby league football actually. Rugby league is the commonly known term.

It’s why the NSW comp was formally known as the NSWRFL.

And it’s called football by all who play it. And the principal way of scoring and claiming territory is by kicking the ball, and has been since 1908.

And you’ve deduced that the mother must therefore be ok with it…

Cause footballers are warriors, CtD!

Warriors!

Lol. But you watch and follow rugby league.

Travelling halfway around the world for an unnecessary game: Newcastle-Spurs friendly raises many issues with football

It’s not a matter of following success. AFL attendances prove that. North Melbourne – just about as terrible a team as you can imagine can still draw a crowd an A-League team can only dream of.

It’s the quality of the product. People will pay to watch a meaningless friendly because it features two teams from one of the highest quality leagues in the world.

People will not attend a football match at a local club 3 minutes walk away because it is not a quality product.

I think you’ve missed the point on what people value differently to you. Time.

You seem to have no intrinsic value on time, and you would happily watch a 4th grade sunday match in suburban Adelaide. Good for you.

Others, value their time differently.

It doesn’t mean one is wrong and the other is right.

Just change the rule that if you have kicked the ball inside the 20m then it’s only a 6 tackle restart.

Second , do we really need more trys from kicks in the modern game . I’m at my limit.

It’s called football, jimmmy.

Kicking is to be encouraged.

If you don’t like it, watch the NFL version of “football”

You’ve spoken to Michelle Arthur then?

It's tough going for female footy fans right now as tone deaf reactions to serious issues get louder

Doesn’t mean they can’t.

Just because YOU don’t agree with basic morals and virtues doesn’t mean a company has to side with you

It's tough going for female footy fans right now as tone deaf reactions to serious issues get louder

But it doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t either. A company is free to do what it wishes.

You’re just another in the brigade who reckon freedoms only matter when they are the ones that you agree with.
