What seems to be overlooked in all of this – we had a light touch coach with Boof in charge, which is how the sorry sandpapergate saga began.
CA needed Langer to bring standards and honour back into the team, the players needed Langer to bring some discipline and to take the heat off them, the cricketing public needed Langer to bring the changes needed for them to be proud of Australian cricket again.
As soon as we started achieving that, he was shown the door.
Maybe it was time for a change and i doubt that anyone has a bad word to say about McDonald and his coaches talents and style. Regardless, the way Langer was treated was atrocious. By CA by the senior Aussie (NSW) players and by a select few media folk with obvious agendas/bias.
We’ll never really know what happened, until of course someone writes a book a few years from now.

C’mon now. McDonald is a well credentialed coach, and i think he will lead the team well, his record speaks for itself.
I also think Langer was treated horribly by CA, by the players and by certain media including an editor in here.
What’s not clear yet is whether McDonald had a hand in the sh*tshow last year. Guess we’ll have to wait for someone to reveal it in a book, until then i guess it’s benefit of the doubt to McDonald.
