Hurricanes all the way! It's not being cocky if you are actually winning.

Super Rugby Expert tips: Round 17

Don’t worry I’ll never lose faith in the canes! If the canes Win they should make it to the play offs, and it’s against the chiefs who look a shell of their former selves.

Thought I should give the AB’s a bit of support and let these aussie’s know of what’s coming in a couple of weeks 😛

SPIRO: Waratahs and Sharks finalists but who are the other four?

It’s going to be hard for our Canes Digger! Hopefully a couple of results go our way!!

True true! My mistake! Maybe he’s a better coach then I gave him credit for…

Kiwi Dave going against the blues! I guess you rate Michael Foley then… I reckon we should see how the force go after their 2nd year under him. This year could have been a bit of a once off…

Super Rugby Expert tips: Round 17

I know I’m a one eyed Hurricane supporter, but Canes still have Savea, Jane and Barrett, and Saders don’t have Nadolo and Dagg. Crusaders don’t quite have the spark in attack without those two. Hurricanes have a terrible win loss against the Saders ratio 7:16, but I reckon with the class in their back line, and Franks and Coles up front they should see it done.

I think Tahs will walk over the Brumbies. The backline of the Tahs is incredible, what is 6 wallabies (Phipps,Foley,Beale,AAC,Horne,Folau). Their forward plug away, but with Brumbies being without two of their workers, Carter and Moore, Tahs have the ascendency in the forwards as well!

I think the Force vs Blues will be interesting. Both in contention for Finals, though the Blues have to win all three and hope some teams above them lose.. It should be close!

I’ve been reading the roar for years but never had the guts to put words on the roar 😛 Not sure why the first thing I thought when picking a rugby related avatar was Nick try is a piece of meat Cummins..

True true on the centre, SBW back should make things interesting for sure!

How are the All Blacks really looking?

On a more general note, nice article John! I liked what you said about Sio, he really did look like a man trying to play himself into the starting XV! Wonder why the press don’t ask Mckenzie the question some time 😛

I’m looking forward to Bledisloe 1 for sure! Big match ups right across the park. Wallabies finally have a game plan which the players enjoy playing, and fits in with their skill sets! I think Beale could be a really dynamic 12 if he can work on his defence. He runs, good off loads, kicks, and most importantly has good vision. Always like watching him play.

Under the radar in the third Test

I don’t see Skelton having to get to every ruck per say. The forwards work as a pack and I think most people agree, or atleast see the benefits in Skelton being in the team come RWC 2015. Yes Skelton is big and would be slow for a blindside, or number 8, this would really only be exposed at scrum time when he needs to detach and mark the man coming off the scrum.

Put it another way, would you prefer to have a flanker who gets to all the rucks but is maybe 70% effective (like Fardy,Mccalman) or the inverse that is Skelton, gets to 70% of the rucks but will pretty much have 100% impact when he hits one.

I do agree he is young and inexperienced, but isn’t everyone when they start their international Career. Think Michael Hooper who made his debut at 20!! look where he has come in 2 years, he’s the captain! Now I’m not saying that Skelton will progress so quickly, but experience is only gained by action. The more game time the better (doesn’t have be in the starting XV every game mind you).

Under the radar in the third Test

I wouldn’t say there is nothing behind A Smith, but as you say lack of game time for TJP and TKB means they are a bit of an unknown at test match intensity for 80min. I think the up tempo style the AB’s are trying to play really suits A Smith (quick recycle, long passes, accurate passes too!) Its like the difference last year when there was A Smith and Piri Weepu, the game just kind of slowed down when Weepu came on.. But sometimes that is needed.. I don’t think the reserve 9’s can play at that speed, but as long as they keep it accurate and avoid the box kicks and leave that to the fly half then I reckon we should be fine 🙂

How are the All Blacks really looking?

Digger nice article mate, I saw your article and had to have a read! I’m not so sure about depth in the centres. IF Nonu’s form drops/injured who would you think would go to 12? ATM I think we are quite lucky that Nonu is both a ball playing, but also a crash ball style 12. Our back up 10’s aren’t quite suited for 12 defensive rigours. MAybe DC could slot in when he is fully fit…

I do agree the 13 jersey looks good with Feki, Crotty, and Saili. Interesting to know your thoughts
