How good are the chooks?

Carnage! Roosters set up Souths showdown but lose Manu and likely Jared after another brain explosion

So the penalty for incompetence in not being able to count to 8 is to be given a more demanding role in the bunker, what could possibly go wrong with that.

Sam missile strikes with World Cup worldie but Matildas bow out as Lionesses roar into Final

Bit harsh on the Phins, they’ve achieved much more than the pundits gave them credit for and until they can gather some higher quality talent at the club their standing from this year is actually pretty much a solid pass mark. If anything the clubs demeanour might help attract a few specials in coming seasons given their relative success this year.

Is it just me, but if Alex Johnson was a Queenslander he’d be a stalwart of a Queensland generation of players. Shame NSW don’t value quality before politics.

ANALYSIS: Cowboys put on defensive clinic to leapfrog Eels into top eight - but could lose star duo

Can I be first. It’s a hollow victory for the Cowbies given the Eels were so ruthlessly inconvenienced by the loss of their Origin Stars. The draw needs to reflect the amount of disruption Parra have to suffer during the rep’ rounds and how many premierships they’ve been robbed of because of their depth of talent which gets wasted each and every year. Can we all form a circle and sing folk songs in support of our Parra cousins. Apparently the officiating was a bit skewed.

Seriously. Mate I’m in the camp of “INTENT”. When I look at the vision I see him trying to clumsily, trying to gain more impetus in go forward. His knees were not used aggressively in my opinion.
I admit it’s all grey stuff but sometimes an innocuous contact is just that.

Cool analysis Mike cheers.
A few brief rejoinders, don’t believe Tapau knee lift was dangerous nor all that harmful, the broncos biggest problem is how quickly is Mam going to get up to speed.
Souths problems are many. The way AJ gets used on the left is soooo predictable nobody has noticed the right side is actually more deadly, well soon anyhow. If he was a Queenslander he’d have a dozen games under his belt.

History, nostalgia and passion: Why NRL should ensure Jets comeback gets off the ground in Perth

In these enlightened days of NRL and common sense saying the Sydney scene is over represented by clubs and with pi55 p00r crowds and all the kids coming through being from an increasingly smaller cultural heritage, the game as we knew it growing up is fast disappearing. It won’t be long and NRL won’t be the game our kids will aspire to. They hopefully will want to play League at school and on weekends. But very few will be on a path to NRL.

I imagine a similar thing happened in the States with their football. Great big schools, colleges and pro footy clubs changed the fabric of the game to whatever it is now. I can see us going down that path. Shame.

History, nostalgia and passion: Why NRL should ensure Jets comeback gets off the ground in Perth

Poor old Parra always getting the rough end of the pineapple during Origin, in fact all the time really.

I do agree the competition should pause for three weeks, play the games on the weekends and stop the complaining.

Time to pause during Origin and reduce length of season as interstate contest leaves NRL in the shade

The AFL stated this week they’re looking to be the dominant code in Queensland within the next decade or so. They also are very involved with junior programs and womens development. They’re really leaving the NRL behind in terms of bringing people into the sporting family.

Going to Perth with a regurgitated Sydney team has to be up there with sending a team to Adelaide. Melbourne Storm has only been successful because Rugby League wanted an up yours gesture at the AFL and have somehow been blessde with backer with deep pockets and great management.

I don’t see a walkover but Blind Freddy can see the lack of gameplan won’t help the Blues, Queensland by enough to get the 3rd game, don’t think Billy would be pleased with anything else.

The Roar's State of Origin expert tips and predictions Game III: Queensland whitewash or Blues redemption?

Poor old Parra, obviously the only club inconvenienced by losing players to Origin, what a crock.

As a Cowbies fan I’m really pleased we’ve got 7 guys on rep’ duty, if the team performs poorly in their absence it’s down to our depth and systems, with any luck the mighty Parra trio will each play 80 minutes in a flogging and won’t be able to back up in the following week, give them something to be really salty about.

'Gorging on the game’s own meat': NRL and RLPA not reading the room as fans in the real world struggle to make ends meet

I can see a time in the future when SOO players will not be the best players of the NRL and I’m okay with that. If our Pacific Island cousins identify with their heritage more than where they’re born then that’s their prerogative, I’d much sooner be represented by a passionate Neville Nobody than someone getting an appearance fee. Personally I hope Origin is around on Wednesday night midyear forever.

The excitement is gone - State of Origin is a damp squib

As a Cowbies fan and not the type to pile on misery to others, in Tigers defence they were in the crosshairs for some serious retribution after putting 66 points on them a few weeks earlier, that probably explains why they did not let the pressure off, continuing to chase points right up to full time. For mine it showed faith in their system and a team united. On top of the three scalps on the trot after having their bottoms spanked the Tigers result was no surprise.

It’s now up to them how they turn it around and find their inner strength, as has been said, they’re pro’ footy players, start acting like it.

Waning cats and dogs: Tigers and Canterbury dish up woeful lack of professionalism in giving up the ghost

I hope the RLPA do negotiate some sort of an insurance fund to support both aspiring players who don’t quite make it as well as those who just need some help later in life. Maybe a once only cash payment.

Cowbies are losing 7, yes we’ve got our 2nd bye, but it’s still an injury risk in what is essentially a waste of time game, apart from bragging rights.

Blues Origin III team: Fittler going down swinging the axe as besieged coach chops and changes in bid to save his skin

But the issue is that even, as you say, blind freddie knows that without a gameplan they’re cactus. Just look at the bench, Gutho, Drinkwater, Cook/Robson, they’re all interchageable cyborgs, Yeo can move if given space, but Saifiti is no replacement for Junior Paulo, and how long will any of these blokes get to play, 12 minutes seems to be ol’ fredsters attention span, sheet.
