Confuses me as to why Bailey didn’t recommend a review, especially when your 2 wickets down at that stage. It clearly looked too high LIVE as well, let alone it being Warner

New Zealand vs Australia highlights: Kiwis dominate hapless Aussie batting line up

Can’t believe this is happening again!

New Zealand vs Australia highlights: Kiwis dominate hapless Aussie batting line up

“Out of his 14 centuries” **

Is David Warner heading for greatness?

He’s the best opening Batsmen in the world by a long way at the moment. Out of his 12 centuries, 4 have been made outside Australia with 3 in South Africa and 1 in UAE. Apart from that, he did pretty well in England compared to the team performances, notching up 50+ scores on a few occasions. Despite what seems like a T20 style of playing, he does SO well at Test Cricket, over the last 2 summers, it’s been his opening centuries and scores that’ve set up these matches for Australia. You wouldn’t think he’d be a consistent player but at home as well as away, he’s proven time and time again he’s exactly that.
Although, I’d like to see what happens once the opening pair don’t take off, how will the top order handle the situation in the face of good bowling? Didn’t get a chance to see this against India (as the bowlers just didn’t adjust!), and don’t think NZ will have to fire power (if Southee is out) to show this either.

Would love to see South Africa, England or Pakistan – one of those nations with good fast bowling attacks to take on this batting order on home soil. Would be a good contest.

SA were definitely outplayed. I watched the match and apart from AB De Villiers, there was no one who seemed comfortable and positive enough to handle the spin. Apart from this, the spinners including Ashwin, Jadeja and Mishra bowled very well in a unit.
I dont understand your point about Dale Steyn? He had an injury…and comparing him to Windies greats who played on Indian pitches (which couldn’t have been as doctored as this one) in a era without helmets and less skillful batsmen is invalid. It would be better if the pitches in India were left alone without being forced to perform like this. Would like to see at least some bounce and something extra. Yet, it is India, and they want to win using their biggest strengths (yet aren’t improving on weaknesses…fast bowlers and even batting against pace and good spin). Otherwise, it was a fast but entertaining match at times.

India beats top-ranked South Africa in three days

I understand your point of doctoring the pitches. In instances like this, the pitch is designed for just one sole purpose, which is not correct. But it is India…and on pitches with turn, opening with a spinner…especially with India whose pacers don’t have a point to even bowl really!

This was a good day’s play in terms of not being fully dominated by Australia as seen in Days 1-3. But can I say, this happened last summer against India and it’s happening again, James Brayshaw’s commentary is killing me! Everything about it is so meagre and ill-formed. To sum it up, when Williamson hit 3 boundaries during the start:
“That’s a good shot, World Class player.” – 4
“Ohh good shot, just lent on it, and got it through a big big gap” – 4
“Oh Another good shot..blah blah…this is a really good player we are seeing in action” – 4

Everything is lacklustre!, not once have I heard him properly analyse what is going on in the field, yet he seems to just keep on describing players and events on the field when they are happening or have happened in his dull way of using those big words which continually make him sound mis-informed. It’s a pain to hear him after listening to Huss, Smithy, Chappel and the co.

Australia vs New Zealand highlights: Three wickets fall as rain delays Day 4

Wow, now that Clarke is gone, the team really looks out of experience and wisdom. Not that we didn’t know it already, but, everything surrounding their game looks unstable & I’m having serious doubts whether we will win the Test series let alone a Test against Bangladesh – a team that has beaten India, Pakistan & even South Africa recently (ODI). Although, it is really good timing for the selectors to pick through batsmen as seen by the Australia A wins against India A. Bancroft, Burns, Khawaja, Handscomb all are in the mix.
The retirement of Clarke is the final end of a generation of players ranging from Pointing – Mcgrath days. He was the youngest of them & prospered as an unchallenged true leader. So it’s sad to see him leave this way in the face of failure & pressure when all he showed us was grit (India…SA series…) & the prospect of stylish batting & so much more.
