People forget why hayne was picked in the first place, its not that he was the best option, its because he was the only option at that time… Ben Ryan refused to take a reserve back with him to the final 2 tournaments, so when Tuisova pulled out, which he didnot expect, he became worried but when Ravouvou was forced to pull out, and Kunatani (who can play in the backs and forwards had a knee issue), Ryan had no option but to put Hayne in the final 12.. making the final 12 does not mean you start or play every game, If any of those numbnuts Australian journalist had followed fiji 7’s, they would know Fiji always takes ONE player in the final 12 which they barely if at all use..the last such player was Josua Vici the leg before..Hayne unfortunately became that player..I think ryan’s only mistake was not to start hayne against Wales..this could have ignited his confidence..Viriviri may have been a good player in 2014, he isn’t now, he has lost a ton of pace so people who think viriviri will make the final 12 to rio must be on drugs

Only 3 players at this stage are all but going to Rio, they are Kolinisau, Veremalua and Rawaca ..everyone else has to prove their worth locally including Ravouvou, Jerry and Pio Tuwai and Leone, Wise and Josua tuisova…personally I’d take Josua tuisova and nakarawa, they gave something Fiji did not have all season during the paris 7’s..Kunatani is poor now, Nayacalevu needs to work on his fitness, same for Viriviri and Pio tuwai……the otherse are out of sorts…

Hayne still has a chance but he has to prove himself locally…I now wonder if he will choose to come to fiji and play in atleast 2 local tournaments ..Fiji may have many 7’s players but it lacks classy players , most either join clubs in europe or make themselves unavailable like niko matawalu, Metu Talebula, Vereniki Goneva and Watisonv Votu….while a few of our legends in 7’s were dropped by ryan and completely ignored like William Ryder, Ilai Tinai and Emsi Vucago..

Fijian rugby deserves more respect over Hayne

basically yes, its not the rugby union community who are pissed off about Hyane’s decision, its those selfish p*icks from the other code, its them making a mountain out of molehill..maybe they should clean their house first before they start throwing rubbish at other people’s houses..

Hayne at sixes and sevens in rugby's short form

Folau is a poor option defensively at 13, better to have kerevi and Kuridrani in the midfield (both are strong defenders) and Israel at 15…As much as Israel thinks he is ready at 13 for Australia, he is not…test him there during the November tours agaisnt a lower ranked team, not against England or Wales..

Wallaby squad for England (well a possibility at least!)

The difference between union and league is that union allows a player to choose his position, sometimes they are better suited in another position in union than a similar position in league…Most agree Burgess was a better 6 than 12 but Lancaster insisted on playing him at 12, burgess wasn’t a failure in union, Lancaster was as a coach…look at folau, played wing and centre in league but everyone in Australia will agree that he is far more perfect at fullback, a position he would never get to play in the NRL…union has different and varied position with different roles and then there are some positions in union that can never get filled by a league player, case in point, Openside Flanker..there is not a single player in league that can play there..be a richie mCcaw or a George Smith or a Michael Hooper..same applies to the front row in union

Hayne is a back, he does not need to know which position he can fill, he first needs to find out which position he can play…personally I think he can do well both at 12 or fullback for Fiji (if he chooses), he just needs to learn a few basic laws of rugby union…The difference between Hayne and every other Fijian that has played rugby league is that he does NOT have a rugby union background..this is why he was a bit off during the London 7’s….There isn’t a single currently playing fijian in rugby league that does not have a union background..and by fijian i mean someone with an I-taukei parentage and not the ‘grand father rule’ ..he is in a way a unique specimen but his father is a full i-taukei (indigenous fijian) so there is rugby union in his blood..even his father played union in france..Hayne needs time, something he does not really have when it comes to 7’s..I think Hayne can develop into a good union player by late next year but he is definitely NOT ready for Rio….toosoon as they say..

Hayne at sixes and sevens in rugby's short form

8 tries for Vunivalu in 5 Games…not bad..

Parramatta Eels vs Melbourne Storm highlights: Eels can't stop Storm

Poor decision, neither are the best winger in England, Semesa Rokoduguni is..its a shame he will never play for England again and its not because he is bad, but because no coach wants to play him, not lancaster, not Jones..

Jones picks Yarde over Ashton for England

tell that to the multiple NFL to rugby union cross overs that have played for the US or canada..the most recent being Nate Ebner

Highlights: Hayne struggles for impact at London Sevens, Olympic dream in doubt

7’s is more like American football than it is like 15’s rugby or league actually…NFL requires players with fast muscles and short burst speeds, same for 7’s rugby, except its a bit of a middle ground between 15’s rugby and NFL..as they have explosive players (look at Jasa Veremalua) but at the same time they have strong defending players (kolinisau, katonibau) and then to add to that, superb pace (viriviri/hayne) this is the difference..you add all that to 7 players.. a player like Sam Burgess cannot make it in 7’s (too slow), but a player like Greg Inglis will..same for union where a player like RichieMcCaw will not make it in 7’s, but a player like Julian Savea will…

Highlights: Hayne struggles for impact at London Sevens, Olympic dream in doubt

Caucau is still regarded as the best attacking FAT player in any code, including league, and american football.. 😛 lol

How does Jarryd Hayne slot into the world sevens champion side?

Ha, even Ryan mentioned something similar…I follow the Fiji 7’s team in every tournament..they have been poor the last 3 tournaments (including this).. since Hong Kong, complacency is setting in…its Fiji’s kryptonite..the coach needed to do something to boost these players…Hayne was brought in for that reason, in previous years when Fiji was like this , in the doldrums, the FRU would call upon our Lord Saviour, Waisale Serevi who would come join the team as a mentor..

Serevi was not available so they brought in a guy who has already proven himself in not one but 2 codes of the game..if anything, Hayne’s inclusion has boosted FRU’s profile ten folds..infact we might even see noew sponsorships as well…maybe from long standing NRL backing australian brand names who want to associate with rugby union as well since its now an Olympic sport..

Hayne is unlikely to be good enough for the Fiji 7’s team, honestly, he ain’t good enough for the Wallabies 7’s team either (Hayne has played slightly better than Henry Speight did for the Wallabies 7’s ) but he chose to play for the Fiji 7’s team to avoid getting caught in a cross-code war between ARU and ARL..we saw that recently with Koroibete..ARL would get angry if Hayne played for the australia 7’s team, but it doesn’t matter to them if he plays for the Fiji 7’s team…likewise, playing for the Fiji 7’s team means he now can NEVER (looking at his age) play for the Wallabies thus making ARL happy and since ARU recently took another fijian NRL player to union (Koroibete and Nabuli before him), they won’t be angry either..

How does Jarryd Hayne slot into the world sevens champion side?

He is looking for international fame, not money, with rugby league he was basically only known in Australia, a bit in NZ and the pacific islands..with NFL , he was known in the whole of the US, and with Fiji 7’s, he can become a global name.. more people know who Waisale Serevi is than Jarryd Hayne..do you think anyone in the US knows who Greg Inglis is? or Jonathan Thurston?..no but they know who Jarryd Hayne is…..same for SBW, he is now a global brand, Hayne wants that as well..except i do not see him Boxing anytime soon lol..

Hayne suits any game: Radradra

Yep, he will need to play in a local tournament, that is where the ‘real rugby 7’s stars’ are…including his idol, William Ryder who was ridiculously good when he last played in a local tournament this year but missed out on selection because he played for a poor team…hope Hayne stays for that and not run to league after tonight..He has promise, when he went to NFL, he promised he would make it there and he did, now that he is in rugby union, he should do the same..make a point and then leave the sport, 10 mins in 3 games in pretty good start for someone that has NEVER played rugby union before..only 2 mistakes, i know a few former fiji 7’s players who play union everyday butcher it up so easily at this level never to be seen again..

Highlights: Hayne struggles for impact at London Sevens, Olympic dream in doubt

technically, he is 1/2 fijian..just fair…not that many white/i-taukei fijians out there..atleast not rugby players…he looks more like nicky little than joe rokocoko though..

Jarryd Hayne has left it too late

Many times while watching an NRL match, i have come across the commentators pointing out player ages, a few times they even mentioned that being 28 is considered “old” in league..I see a few big names nearing that age so might consider a change in code….Hayne is 28, he figures he would be considered old in league so decided to try his hand in union making 7’s his first jump to teh code…sounds like an odd decision but could work out for him..Many of the bug name Fiji 7’s stars (A few australian and NZ ones too) made a name for themselves playing 7’s long before being regarded as great 15’s players..2 current major names surely are Australian flyhalf, bernard foley and NZ winger Julian Savea…heck even Michael Hooper is a renowned 7’s player ..james o’connor too…so if a player switches from league to union, going thru 7’s might actually not be a bad option…especially for a backline player….if this is successful, expect Hayne to be named at Fullback for the Flying Fijians (Fiji 15’s) as well…

Jarryd Hayne selected in Fiji's rugby sevens squad for London

Y’all make me laugh, Jarryd will NEVER make the Fiji 7’s team to RIO..its not that he is not good enough, its because he has not played enough to make the squad..had he joined the squad at the start of the season, he would have been a ‘shoe-in’ but 7’s ain’t league, players need to be really fit to make the team, only 4 players have deemed themselves fit enough for the national 7’s team, so there are 8 spots available, one tournament is not good enough to judge hayne’s capability, if he does well this weekend (fi selected), Ryan will have to put him through a few ‘local’ 7’s tournaments to really test him out…

Remember Ryan, earlier this year, dumped Fiji 7’s “own” version of Jarryd Hayne because he deemed he was not fit enough to play for the national team , that player was William Ryder (look him up).. Hayne may be fit, he does look it in the national 7’s jersey but the question is, is he fit enough for 7’s rugby….the truth, no..it takes atleats 6 months to get into 7’s fitness, even those france 15’s players that join the side have to get atleast a month of 7’s training before they join the side or they will not last long…look at Semi Kunatani during Hong Kong/Singapore leg, he was seriously UNFIT and literally got injured in Singapore…7’s fitness is easy to get, but really hard to maintain..can Hayne do it in a week?.. NO…will Ryan select him tomorrow, MAYBE (we have a few injury in the backs and Ryan did not bring a reserve back)

Jarryd Hayne has left it too late

NRL /Storm stole Suliasi Vuniuvalu from right under the Auckland Blues nose, they were going to sign him up but Storm took him before he got a chance to play real rugby sop why are people complaining?..again Koroibete has been playing union far longer than he has played league..he only started playing league the last 4 years, he has been making the school union team since he was 14…

Marika Koroibete signs with Melbourne Rebels

ARU does not know what to do with outside backs, FFS, they let Nemani Nadolo go..

Jarryd Hayne announces NFL retirement, aims for Olympic Games

the ‘4 legs’ is for those that have already played ‘international union’ for another nation..basically only 3 players have used this loophole, 2 of them play for samoa now (from NZ) and one for england (from NZ)…Hayne does not need to play a single tournament to qualify for fiji 7’s…he just needs to have a fiji passport (which he does) and a coach that will select him without having him play one tournament..if he misses out this weekend but still wants to play, Ryan will test him out at a local 7’s tournament before rio..

Jarryd Hayne announces NFL retirement, aims for Olympic Games

He will but only if he is capped for Fiji (15’s), SBW played as a Marquee (foreign export), If hayne plays one Pacific Nation Cup game for Fiji, he automatically becomes a ‘local’ players thus allowing him to join any french club that wants him without the restriction of ‘quotas’ on money…Toulon might have him since they are losing their fullback, Delon Armitage to Lyon next season..

Jarryd Hayne announces NFL retirement, aims for Olympic Games

lol nah, french clubs are quite picky and they refuse to release fijian players for longer than a week (tuisova and nayacalevu)..for nakarawa, he had to go back to scotland to play his last 2 games for the club (semi finals) before he alos moves to france..

Jarryd Hayne announces NFL retirement, aims for Olympic Games

Fiji 15’s coach John McKee confirmed 2 weeks back that a known ‘NRL’ player wants to play for the flying fijians, he didn’t mention a name..so its quite likely its Hayne since no other fijians in NRL look interested in returning for fiji (koroibete will play for australia) so this could rule out hayne for the wallabies but might also rule him out for a return to NRL..i think he might move to france for Top14 and since he would be a capped fijians, he falls in the local player rule thus can get paid as a ‘local’ allowing him to be paid more.. ..

Jarryd Hayne announces NFL retirement, aims for Olympic Games

3 players that played last weekend have left for their clubs (nakarawa, tuisova and nayacalevu), so 3 spots just opened, he won’t be taking someone elses place, he will be taking one of the 3 open spots.

Jarryd Hayne announces NFL retirement, aims for Olympic Games

if he qualifies, no one, I think only 4 players have rightfully reserved their places in the national team to rio, which leaves 8 spots open for contention (those 4 are osea kolinisau, jasa veremalua, savenaca rawaca and jerry tuwai)

not important is it?

Jarryd Hayne announces NFL retirement, aims for Olympic Games

Fiji only needs to make the cup quarters to win this year’s WR 7’s series title, they can RISK it with Hayne playing…
