Papley is full of nonsense. Swans often target players off the ball – look how they constantly harassed Gawn when they played Melbourne. He needs to pipe down.

'Going to have a nice holiday': Papley whacks Don's Swan bump, blasts Bombers' 'facade' in explosive interview

I think after two years of sustained success, a fall down the ladder is not unexpected. We have been spoilt by exceptional teams in the last few decades, but winning back to back is very difficult. Even as a supporter, I have lost the hunger that I had last year so I suspect the players are no different. You are right about Murphy. Collingwood cannot afford for Moore to go searching for the ball when they lack a defender of the calibre of Murphy to ‘mop up’ behind him. I might also add that I am less worried about Sidebottom and Pendlebury than I am about the fall off in form from Jack Crisp and Jordan DeGoey. Daicos needs time to develop in the centre and should be persisted with in light of Pendlebury’s imminent retirement.

Footy Fix: Fly's Pies have officially been worked out - but that's just the start of their problems

Awful tonight as well.

Footy Fix: Don't panic just yet, Pies fans... but there's now a blueprint to bring the premiers down

Pendlebury and Sidebottom weren’t the problem.

Pies really struggled in defence but the swans were allowed to bring it in too easily. Felt that there was little pressure from the forwards. Johnson will go back to the twos and the Pies will start McCrae. Charlie Dean looked out of his league. Expect Noble and Frampton to come back in. Am glad to see people writing off the Pies – it’s just the thing they need to get their hunger back.

Surprised he never got a look in in the England team – which by the way defeated the Irish! So Ireland can be beaten, afterall 😂

'Over the moon': Reds deny Chiefs for 23 PHASES to win 'titanic' trans-Tasman clash as Kiss' revolution continues

The Reds were great at the breakdown. They made it difficult for the Chiefs to get quick ball. Defence was very good. Great scrambling and good discipline. Still early in the season but the signs are good.

Mine did. Compromised too much. Allowed workers to fall behind when they should have been agitating. All the while, CEO and management salaries rose exponentially and absurdly rewarded even during times of poor growth etc

Kane seems a diminished figure playing in the German league. Sure, he is scoring goals but he has dropped out of the conversation. Might he go back to the Spurs?

Jones’s project lacked coherence. From the coaching staff to the messaging to the game plan – there was a constant sense of instability and chaos. He had moment against NZ where he could have built on what seemed like ‘progress’ but he decided to blow it apart with his RWC selections.

At best, this is a short term option.

It’s not just about Joe Schmidt but the coaches around him. Andy Farrell was Irelands defence coach under Schmidt and he did a tremendous job with the Irish defence and their line speed.

RA's new HP director 'totally open' to foreign coach as RA sets timeline, CEO reacts to player dismay over Eddie

Yes. You need competition for places and there was not enough of that in the squad Jones selected.

'It was remarkable RA couldn't see it': Quade slams Eddie chaos, praises 'phenomenal' McKellar

You know that Cooper is right when Eddie says, ipso facto, that he wouldn’t have changed a thing (knowing now how badly the Wallabies performed) – that is the thinking of a very arrogant and entitled person.

'It was remarkable RA couldn't see it': Quade slams Eddie chaos, praises 'phenomenal' McKellar

RA needs to get the process right – take their time, conduct exhaustive interviews and do the due diligence. Dispense with assumptions and trust the process – Collingwood football club did a similar thing and appointed an untried Head coach who took them from the foot of the ladder to the premiership within two years. We need to think less about personality and more about skill set and a growth mentality.

'He's up for it': Why ex-Boks World Cup-winner Jake White should be on the Wallabies coaching hit list

I think what Alexander is emphasising is White’s collaborative/CEO type approach to coaching as opposed to Eddie’s dictatorial style. Really the emphasis needs to be on getting a good ‘team’ of coaches instead of the motley crew that Eddie gave us. Jake White would fit that bill and enable the assistants to have greater input. Ultimately, the coach I want is Joe Schmidt. A highly intelligent and thoughtful coach who brings an impressive rugby IP with him and who has the calm demeanour to navigate the choppy waters that lie ahead.

'He's up for it': Why ex-Boks World Cup-winner Jake White should be on the Wallabies coaching hit list

Feels like the selectors have wasted an opportunity to blood new talent – test cricket requires time to adapt and learn. A perfect opportunity to blood some younger players while we still have experienced leaders.

RA took a massive gamble and it failed spectacularly. The BBC podcast team were also mystified as to how the RA had the wool pulled over their eyes – who takes the blame for this poor decision making?

Schmidt in a DOR style role would be the first piece in the puzzle.

'That's one of the options': Foster admits Test coaching return possible as he reacts to Wallabies link

What we can learn from the Boks and the ABs is that we need the right coaching set-up. Less focus on one individual and more focus on getting a strong group together who can bring particular strengths to the team. We need to get away from this messianic complex which is always doomed to fail.

'That's one of the options': Foster admits Test coaching return possible as he reacts to Wallabies link

Perhaps we need to think in terms of a coaching team or set up rather than in terms of an individual. Could we develop something akin to South Africa with a DOR and a head coach working together in the coach’s box? I think if we have less fixation on individuals and more emphasis on a coaching team then we can move away from messianic expectations and focus more on core roles and skills.
