Seems a good appointment. But the complete leadership structure of the entire organisation has been a sorry story for too many years.
Make sure the sponsors cannot have a say in players and the RA structure inspires players and supporters to come on board.
Otherwise it won’t matter how good a coach he is, the same result will happen.
Good luck Joe. Hopefully bums on seats will return ????

'Not a hit and run': Schmidt explains short-term deal and why he 'surprised' himself by taking Wallabies job

In a similar pay of respect to what NZ rugby have done, with Robinson and Fozzie, we should have given Rennie his chance with Eddie appointed to come in after the World Cup.
Eddie could have done some gardening while he waits. Pruned his roses….Couldn’t be any worse, and at least it would have been a bit more respectful. I think there is far more blame to be placed on the style of Rugby HQ in Australia. Same old boys club for years and years, producing the same old results.
However Eddie is there now and wishing these lads all the best. One thing is for sure, low average caps means there is less scars to carry.
On a side note, I see the once great sponsor and dictator of Australian rugby, is now trying to tell us all to vote yes, by painting a aeroplane in ‘yes’ and rainbow colours.

The Wrap: Is Eddie Jones playing the role of Keyser Soze or Frank Drebin?

Under the roof today, I if our forwards can step up and match the All Blacks, then we have a back line that can match them as well. The BBC 1st XV were not the biggest but they matched it and out performed most GPS XV’s across a couple of years with fitness and mobility. If Carter can get that clear air and go forward then this backline will feel the difference. Those that say Carter can’t kick, is bollocks….general play he has the torpedo, one of few five eights that still can. He won’t shirk the hard stuff.
The key will be in the forwards, fitness across the park, penalties and cards. Keep the discipline fellas. Go the wallabies.

'Yin and yang': Wallaby's full-circle moment to where his midfield combination began

He takes it too seriously CS…..it was written with tongue in cheek…. someone could make a little Monty Python style skit out of the latest rugby matches between the Wallabies and the All Blacks

It's not Eddie's first rodeo, but old school methods could leave behind a trail of broken bodies

You have no sense of humour…..its light hearted!

Hey Harry.
Talking of schools, the lead up to tomorrows game is like the lead up to the ‘Primary school kids vs the High school kids’. Seems like a fun idea at the time, if not a little bit disturbing, but we are all a little bit curious how this event will go again. After 21 years of hope, we are thinking maybe the primary school kids are starting to learn a few things or two…..perhaps a giant upset could happen……this could be the year……but after 20 mins when the score starts to resemble a game of cricket and the little kids are getting literally smashed and carried off, that hope is for the referee will call the game off to stop the bloodshed.
Go the little kids!

Great article. You are right about egos and your note to the Rugby Australia administration, however their shutter blinds doesn’t allow them a view of outside their ‘collective brilliance’!
The system has needed to be fixed for some time and it’s beyond me how it’s not smacking them in the face.
The last management was a colossal marketing screwup in image management.
If David N can turns things around in Ireland, then the guy should have a seat at the table. We have the players coming through the school systems, but from my experience league just smashed union in better pathways.
If a 15 year old kid is offered scholarships with the Broncos etc etc, they are not going to turn it down; and if they have played union and league on the weekend, then fair chance they will go with the pathway that gives them a decent scholarship and their parents cheaper school fees etc.

Where there’s life there’s hope - and there's plenty of life left in this Wallabies side

Bugger wrong article ????

Exclusive: Reds sign All Blacks prop to help ease Tupou blow, JOC 'unique' deal to start coaching transition

I think we need to suspend the use of the title ‘High Performance Unit’, until it actually resembles that with results. Until then perhaps ‘Low Performance Unit’ is more appropriate.

Ex-Wallaby lashes 'disgusting negativity' after Knuckles' 'bloody disaster' rant on Eddie

Where is Nick Bishop? This is the guy I was asking you about many years ago when a mate and I stuck around to watch the BBC 1st XV play Nudgee 1st XV. I remember Carter was strapped up bit time as he was tall but didn’t have the bulk. The Nudgee guys were huge and as a pack outmuscled the BBC guys at times (but the BBC fellas played as a tight unit) however the thing that impressed me was Carter found a way. He plays what’s in front of him. So if he just plays the game with his talents, I think he could be very good. He always reminds me of a younger Larkham, and I am wishing him all the best to show Australians what he can do on the field. Go well buddy!

'Butch defence, Larkham glide': What Eddie sees in Test rookie as Wallabies make SEVEN changes

I think it’s asking a lot expecting a strike bowler to bowl, not get fatigued and make good decisions all day. It’s courageous of Pat to think he can do it all but he is not super man and the best position to captain from us in the field, preferably in the slips.

Zak attack: Crawley clobbers century as 'sloppy' Aussies pray for rain to save Manchester massacre

Comments in the news by Taylor, Pointing and Waugh all seem to suggest Cummins has too much workload, there is no rudder steering the ship, and the leadership group are rattled.
Either way, I never thought Pat should be captain and a strike bowler. Cumulative Fatigue sets in and that affects your decision making.

Plus Cooper has matured mentally as a different guy than all those years ago, but Wilson and co just won’t let it go. Would rather publicly bash Quade on the eve of a game, when wallabies team policy dictate, Quade can’t or would bother to return fire. Wilson loves his soapbox

'Why is Quade running this team?': All Blacks great doubles down on selection issue, Fozzie says Eddie is 'right'

You have a point. I remember going to a Suncorp Bledisloe game years ago. Sea of black. Love our kiwi cousins but bloody hell…..can’t be too many left in NZ!

'Why is Quade running this team?': All Blacks great doubles down on selection issue, Fozzie says Eddie is 'right'

I always said, and the first time I saw Carter play in the first xv at BBC he carved them up. Like a young Larkham in style and stature.
I hope Nick remembers me asking about him, maybe two years ago, and you replied “Don’t know much but will go lol him up” something like that.
Well done Carter. The BBC coaching staff will be chuffed

'Player of the future': Jones' praise for Gordon as Horan calls on young gun to start for Wallabies

Ha ha. That maybe so and probably right. I didn’t go to school there, but watched the game as a mates kids were there. Brisbane Boys College have had some ripper teams but CG I think was 5/8 in the 1st xV, from when he was 15 or grade 10.
I hope he fills out but if you put head gear on him and gave him a haircut, he wouldn’t look a whole lot different to Bernie Larkham. We need someone to step up after Cooper is gone.

Wallabies Giteau Law power rankings: The FIVE overseas stars needed to win the World Cup

Yeh it was a time of extraordinary favouritism. Quade should have had many more caps

Wallabies Giteau Law power rankings: The FIVE overseas stars needed to win the World Cup

I still remember CG having the BBC 1st Xv under a top school boy coach and a legend. Give him that confidence and he will shine. Stick him as Quades roomy and one Qld can pass some invaluable knowledge onto another. Has the lanky stature and boot of Larham and the cut out pass and vision of Quade.

Wallabies Giteau Law power rankings: The FIVE overseas stars needed to win the World Cup

Great article Guys. You all have Quade, Kerevi, and Skelton. WhT a shame Quade was given the keys more during the former years.

Wallabies Giteau Law power rankings: The FIVE overseas stars needed to win the World Cup

I remember like a lot those days, seeing year 12 Carter Gordon running around with the BBC 1ST XV. He was strapped up more than he is today but still needed meat on him. But geez he guided that team around (I think they were premiers that year). He reminded me of a very young Larkham, and you don’t forget those skilful players. Huge cut out pass and ran at the line. So good luck to him. Always though he could get his chance.

Wallabies winners and losers: Eddie has gone away from Rennie's 'form' principle and backed his eye

Spot on. Lack of technique, effort or purely we just don’t have the day in day out performance that the kiwi teams have.

Crusaders too good for clumsy Reds as Petaia, Wright star to push Wallabies credentials

Reds faithful won’t pay money to watch that sort of performance anytime soon. Forwards got belted, backs just seemed to lack cool heads. JOC needs to staple himself Ballymore, take his tent and don’t leave until he can kick a ball over the black dot no excuses.

Very true comment. I think it was either Rob Fyfe or Ralph Norris that stopped a reporter in a press conference. There was discussion about the NZ$800million loan to Air NZ from the Kiwi government. Nick may remember it but the reporter asked how does the CEO guarantee a return to shareholders? He replied something like “His priority is his staff, and if he looks after his staff, they will look after the customer, and the customer will bring the returns for the shareholders”. Wish I could find the exact quote but if true, I like it.

Coach's corner: 'Barely recognisable' - Why Dave Rennie's Wallabies play nothing like his Glasgow Warriors

Hey Nick
Just catching up here on everything. Another great article. I remember a few years ago watching a young Carter Gordon piloting a champion GPS Brisbane Boys College team in Brisbane. He instantly reminded me of a young Larkham, not only in appearance, the lanky stature, but great pass, boot and just played with heaps of time on his hands.
Have you seen much of him? Wondering why he is not given much of a look in. I believe he played Australian schoolboys

ANALYSIS: Time to pray Australia, because it's Quade Cooper or bust for the RWC. And when he's gone there's no one else

Saw Carter Gordon play in his school boy days. Larkam like in his frame and he’ll of a boot and pass on him. Takes the ball to the line. Good prospect
