it was my understanding that the FFA are already required to approve marquee players. I’m not sure how stringent they are but i remember the jets needing to put a case forward when they wanted to move griffiths from under the cap to the marquee position

con might not have the money of palmer but he loves the game, and given newcastle might not have a team without him, its probably best to grant him a few “eccentricities” but i dont think con has done anything wrong here, from what i’ve read the jets are in the right and the PFA just like a good fight, especially when the newspapers will be there
as for griffiths: sometimes when people have their mind set on leaving a job they switch off and dont really care about pissing off the old boss. it seems this is a case with joel, and combine that with what we can only assume is some dodgy advice from his agent and its a long fall from the top (in newcastle at least, i dont think his rating had too far to fall in other parts of the country)

i’m a carle fan and i think he had an OK game, but didn’t really show his skills (apart from that chip into the box for Thompson to run onto). he was pressured well and had to work hard to control some horrible passes, although to his credit he was keeping possession despite the pressure and poor passing.
vidosic probably made the best claims for SA and another attacking mid putting his hand up isn’t good for nicky, although the hope is still there that pim will realise all attacking mids are not created equal. vidosic seems to play more like kewell or holman while carle does naturally what very few socceroos do in an international game: control and hold the ball and try to keep possession. i much preferred carles back and side passing to heffernan or kemp’s wild passes forward to nobody.

as a non member of the AB fan club i wasnt paying too much attention after about 30 seconds when it was painfully obvious that brosque was the messiah sent to save the socceroos
also did i hear one of them mention someone going overseas for a loan deal (not an actual loan, they were just stating what they would like to happen), possibly to a premier league club? please tell me they werent talking about brosque

i like kennedy, i think he is a good player but unfortunately he is a bad influence on the socceroos. it seems every time we play him we resort to the long ball and completely cut out the attacking midfield (wasting the talent of some of our best players)
hopefully if he is part of pims system at the world cup, another striker is put up with him to give the midfield another option. maybe cahill pushing forward sometime before the 80th minute?
