‘god-bothering missionaries’
‘you and your people’

I see no difference between Folau and you in regards to being a bigot.

No one person is bigger than the game

“A lot of good came out of Super League ”

Laughable. In fact, the most moronic thing written here so far and there has been plenty.

So you think that having teams in Moscow, London, LA etc, which was the plan was going to work?

Please, someone tell me this is a gee up.

Souths and Roosters fans letting the NRL down

My response was measured. Fancy bringing up the march to save the club and comparing it to the crowd for a Monday night game. Dumb comparison.

How do you know about the atmosphere? I was in the stands, you know, what a supporter of my team does.

You don’t argue against my points because it blows you out of the water.

You also forget about the 35k we had against the Dogs, but that doesn’t fit your argument either.

The club is not standing still, they are always trying to get more to the ground, and memberships have only really picked up over the past few years.

I won’t even start about the spread of teams or the transport.

Souths and Roosters fans letting the NRL down

Souths are currently averaging just short of 19k for their home games in 2012.

For those 5 matches, they have not had a Sunday game.
If you followed League, you would know that Sunday afternoon games draw better than a Monday night.

Come back and write this pathetic (your words) piece riddled with clichés and myopic comparisons, after their allotment of Sunday games. I was also at the game, and there was a fantastic atmosphere.

Souths and Roosters fans letting the NRL down

Since AFL takes all of the good sportsmen in the Southern States, we are left picking NSW players and no hopers like Cowan.

Junior is right, and Cowan will not be opening by the time of the Ashes.

So long Ed Cowan and thanks for the memories

The Elephant in the room that is always ignored by the AFL propaganda machine:

Iron Chef (repeats) >>>>>>>>Swans >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> (100% in the money)>>>>>>>>>>GWS

We are talking Sydney viewership around 85-90k on FTA, which is pathetic.
Even when it was not shown on Main Event at the same time, the numbers are still the same.

In terms of how many of these viewers are in the Western Suburbs, if you approximated around 1/3 (very generous), or 30k, that is statistically irrelevant in the vast numbers that live out that way.

Let’s face it, AFL has been shown on TV here for 30 years+, it is not as if people will say: ‘Wow, this is a game I have never seen before’.

People have voted with their feet already, and no amount of money will change that. Just ask the NFL how they went pushing their game into Europe, and they have far deeper pockets than the AFL.

As to the Waratahs, they have a much firmer footing, but interest will drop away once the NRL kicks off in two weeks time. Always has, always will.

Another team in Western Sydney?

Lets face it, the AFL is excellent when it comes to throwing up the ‘Education Smokescreen’, so that they can wash their hands when things inevitably go wrong.

Then we have the AFL media, and hacks like the DiFabrizio rolling out the company line like clockwork.

That Iraqi Information Minister had nothing on these guys.

With AFL scandals, don't hate the player or the game

There you go, more AFL hubris……….’One because the theory only applies to exciting football codes. Two because die hard boring league supporters are not part of the demographic the AFL is attempting to reach. Nobody is trying to convert you.’

What gets you off thinking that AFL is more exciting? Is that because it is more exciting to you?

So even if we take your myopic view, then all of those Victorians who don’t follow AFL will be mesmerized by League when they watch SOO next week?

Good luck to the GWS, they will need it (as well as all the money that the AFL can afford to pour down its throat).

Is the Folau signing just a Trojan Horse?

The reason why these guys are stars is not just because of their talent, but because the media pumps them up by continually pushing their barrow.

What will happen is the next best players will take their place, and be pumped up as ‘stars’.

People said that the game would weaken when the Union crop left, but how could that be when the game has grown across all categories?

Hunt and Folau won't make it as AFL stars

The AFL has been looked after in NSW…………SCG upgraded, new Blacktown facility, upgraded Showgrounds.

Note: Bubbledome is to be used by 3 codes, not just the NRL.

The Showgrounds will be upgraded for 9 games a year, for one code only.

What a waste of money when there is a Stadium perfect for AFL next door.

No surprise that this is coming from the most inept Government in Australia’s history.

GWS Showgrounds upgrade another box ticked by AFL

Who knows, maybe Locky is going to setup Folau with a hospital pass as he runs infield towards Gallen.

Folau's Maroons selection a disgrace, says NSWRL

I cannot see how anyone can argue how Folau could turn down $6m, and now become the highest paid player in AFL .

The AFL has finally dropped the talk that they just want to offer an alternative, they are coming after League.

I wish them all the best, Union said that same when they had a warchest after the World Cup.

What this will ensure, is that all those league fans that dabbled in AFL will be turned off, nothing is surer. Why would you support something that is trying to kill off something that you love.

In terms of the ‘Marketing Effect’ that is all good and well if this team was kicking off next month, which is about as long as this story will run, and then will be pushed into the back pages of sport.

Imagine Alex Ferguson signing up Gary Ablett. At the press conference Gary says that he watched a couple of EPL games on Fox, and even attended a few Melbourne Victory games, but never played the game. Alex leans over and shakes his hand and says ‘Welcome to Old Trafford’.

Farce.

Israel Folau signing another win for the AFL

I love these delusional threads, especially on a Friday.

All we need is someone to say ‘if we only get 1% of their population playing, it would be MASSIVE’

AFL will never be played professionally anywhere outside of Australia, and getting a few bums who could not make it into their domestic Football Leagues to come to play AFL here is meaningless.

Back to the Visions of Grandeur……….

International AFL finally goes more mainstream

At least they can play for their Country, and do so proudly.

The biggest joke of all time is the All-Australian AFL team that gets picked each year.
Who do they play again…………………….

Socceroos have won over Australian sports fans

How many times do we have to tell the AFL supporters that if you DO NOT WANT TO WATCH THE WORLD CUP, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO.

We get it, you hate Football, think that it is trying to kill your code, has no right to push you off the grounds you play on….blah, blah, blah.

Also, the AFL will not get anything like what you are talking about, because they have Etihad, so they will lose virtually nothing. How many games in Melbourne get bigger crowds than the Etihad capacity? A handfull at best, and those games can be moved outside the WC dates. The AFL will have years to sort out the draw for the WC year, so if they are stupid enough to have their big games during the WC tournament, that is their problem.

Lets face it, their whole draw is compromised now anyway, so what is the difference if they moved a few big games around?

Also, I guess Mr.Football isn’t adding back the gains that the AFL makes out of Stadium upgrades.
That would not support his pathetic argument.

AFL's compensation may be huge

The Swans have never cracked 257k in Sydney during a regular season match.

Hell, they do not even crack 100k these days, aren’t they at the top of the ladder?

The AFL on the same night only had 90k more viewers in Melbourne against the League. For an all Melbourne game.

Facts are facts, League has decent ratings in Melbourne when shown, AFL crashes and burns to the bottom of the pile in Sydney.

NRL games must go live into Victoria

That a Canadian Union hack, who would not even get a start in the NRL Toyota Cup, gets to play at the highest level of the AFL speaks volumes.

KHunt gets paid a motza to play the game, after playing around 10 matches in total when he was a kid, and now Israel Folau gets offered as much as the best in the game, yet he cannot kick to save himself.

Lets not even touch on the fact that plenty of kids get drafted from other sports with no AFL pedigree.

Also, to Tom above, I guess the League converts have struggled when they stroll into the Wallabies. Stop peddling lies.

Adapting to AFL not as hard as it seems for converts

The Storm will take their lumps, lose a few players, then begin again next year.

People have short memories, and this will blow over in a few months as we run into the finals.

Those that believe League will ‘die’ etc are also deluded.

The game thrives on controversy, and this is no different.

Credit where credit due: Gallop gets it right

Yeah, they forget about that, everyone knows that the AFL sweeps everything under the carpet, because all that is important to them is the almighty dollar and the onward march of their code.

Don’t worry about fair competition, who cares if some are more even than others, they have lands to conquer.

Just shows you how brainwashed their masses are, much akin to a religious cult.

Melbourne on Anzac Day: A tale of two codes

Yes, yes, the AFL is massive in Melbourne ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

FFS, tell us something we do not know, are you guys serious journalists, or do you do this on the side of your real job.

Lets face it, the AFL Anzac day game is one of the major games of the AFL, but who gave a damn about it in Sydney?

No one did, and I bet when the viewing figures come out they too will be beaten by the re-run of Lassie in Sydney.

I bet you won’t report that.

Melbourne on Anzac Day: A tale of two codes

The punishment was just.

I find it funny that AFL supporters believe that it was too harsh, when they have a competition where teams like Sydney, Brisbane and soon GWC and GC get subsidies over the existing clubs.

I hope the Storm do not go under, but I would be more concerned if we allowed it to be swept under the carpet just so we could have another dot on the map.

A dark day for the NRL and for all Australian sports

Agree the Kiwis will have a great shot at upsetting the kangaroos in a few weeks time.

The force is with Issac Luke and the Rabbitohs

He is the form Hooker over the past three rounds, getting the MOM each time.

Pity he is not from NSW !

The force is with Issac Luke and the Rabbitohs

If the game is shown Nationally, I bet more people watch the game in Melbourne than the pathetic figures that the Swans get in Sydney, hitting only 54k last week. This is even taking into account the “massive spectacle” that the Anzac day game game is in Melbourne.

Remember……AFL, World Famous in Melbourne.

NRL shows guile in its "war" with the AFL

This is the thing, I have been to the MCG to watch the Socceroos, and you are so far from the action that you watch the match on the big screen. So if bigger is better, why not build a 200k Stadium, why not bigger?

Go down to Leichhardt and cram into the old ground on a Sunday afternoon. When the players dive into score and then stand up, they are no more than 2 meters from the fence. You can hear the hits.

I guess when you have never watched a game at a small ground, you do not know what you are missing.

AFL needs to go back to the surburban grounds
