Day one of the second Ashes Test starts in the English capital, as Australia and England head to Lord’s in London for their latest epic battle. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 8pm (AEST).

Following a brilliant come-from-behind victory at Edgbaston, Australia have had the luxury of a week’s break between Tests to refresh.

While Steve Smith had a quiet Test with the bat, so did Marnus Labuschagne. If the Australian No.3 and No.4 can provide more support for Usman Khawaja, dismantling Australia’s top four becomes a much harder job for England.

England’s players have been talking up their game despite losing the opening Test. They will continue to back their aggressive style of play, but they need their top three to contribute more with the bat or else Joe Root will be walking in with England two down for not many once again during this Test.

Prediction

This is the biggest Test for Australia in the Pat Cummins era. Australia have not won a series on English soil since 2001. Both teams have had enough time to refresh and regroup, but Australia have enough match-winners in their XI to get the job done in the face of Bazball.

Australia to win on the final day before tea.
