Umpire has no choice but to give batsman out obstructing the field

There were amazing scenes in the Marsh One-Day domestic competition between Victoria and South Australia when Sam Harper was given out obstructing the field.

Harper, who had just survived an LBW shout again Dan Worrall, defended a ball back down the pitch. Harper was well out of his crease when he played the shot and Worrall threw the ball back at the stumps as a result.

The ball clearly would have hit at least one stump but Harper moved from outside off stump and the ball hit his pads. After a long deliberation the on field umpires and the third umpire agreed that Harper had obstructed the field.
