Sunday afternoon rugby league is back in the city of Melbourne as the Melbourne Storm host the green machine Canberra Raiders at AAMI Park. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 4.05pm AEST.

The Storm are back to where they were a month or so ago, losing two games comprehensively in a row and doing a bit of soul searching. Thus, a home fixture could not have come for them at a better time. Felise Kaufusi’s inclusion is a massive boost for the Storm as he returns from the US for personal reasons. Cameron Munster has been named to slot in at five-eight, however there could be a late change should he fail to be match fit following an isolation period from a bout of Covid-19.

Harry Grant has been named at #9, however he could also miss the clash after sustaining an injury in Origin III – a huge loss considering Brandon Smith is out suspended. The Storm will need their forwards to step up and outperform the middle men in the Canberra side, or else it could become an ugly afternoon for the home side. The Storm also need to show more resilience and fight when defending their own line, especially after conceding 84 points in their past three games.

The Raiders have won two of their past five matches as the men from the nation’s capital struggle to win consecutively or provide any consistency during their topsy turvy season thus far. Despite losing to the Dragons, Canberra coach Ricky Stuart has kept an almost unchanged lineup – with Josh Papalii expected to back up from Queensland’s series victory at Suncorp Stadium earlier in the week.

Prediction

Despite the injury toll conceded by the Storm this year, they are still in the top four and have earnt that right to sit in the top four. However, Canberra have won their past three games at AAMI Park – a feat few visiting teams can brag about. If Canberra can eke out a win against the Storm in Melbourne, that is a huge warning shot to the rest of the top eight contenders that they are a chance of sneaking into finals. However, Melbourne are coming off a 10 day break and have the backing of their fans to make it a daunting afternoon for the Raiders. Storm by six.
