Round 15 kicks off in the city of Wollongong as the St George Illawarra Dragons host 2021 runners up South Sydney Rabbitohs at WIN Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 7.50pm AEST.

This is a massive fixture between two sides who are battling to strengthen their position up the ladder and end the round in the top eight of the ladder.

The Dragons will be low on confidence following a thrashing at the hands of the Cowboys (31-12) in Townsville last Friday. Alongside a monumental performance required by skipper Ben Hunt once again, the Dragons will hope the Illawarra faithful can provide a hostile atmosphere for the Rabbitohs boys in what is expected to be a windy night in Wollongong. Andrew McCullough will be playing his 300th NRL game as the stalwart has been named on the bench.

The Rabbitohs will be wanting to go back to back away victories after a comprehensive 30-16 victory against the Titans in Gold Coast last week. The boys from Redfern will welcome back the inclusion of Blake Taafe on the bench, however, superstar fullback Latrell Mitchell has been ruled out of the clash as he heads into a possible Origin selection with zero match fitness after his rehab in America. The Rabbitohs are currently sitting on 7th and can overtake the Eels should they triumph in Wollongong.

Prediction

Ben Hunt has done an incredible job leading the average roster in the Dragons as they’re still in the hunt for finals. However, this bubble may burst at some stage and it could start against the Rabbitohs. If Hunt can carry the Dragons with his superb kicking game and utilise the windy conditions well, then the Dragons are in with a chance. However, the creativity of Kody Nikorima at fullback alongside the halves pairing of Cody Walker and Lachlan Ilias are set to run the show and provide a Rabbitohs victory.
