Match result:

The Sydney Roosters have stormed home over the Gold Coast Titans, winning 58 to 6. On a beautiful Sunday afternoon at the SCG the home side were never in doubt as they scored all over the park and kept the Titans to a solitary try.

James Tedesco and Latrell Mitchell both scored doubles as Brett Morris scored a first-half hat-trick to make up seven of the Roosters’ ten tries. It was a day for the little men as no forward managed to get over the white stripe on either side.

The Titans will be left wondering what just happened as they were completely outclassed from the first set (where they gave a way a penalty) to the last (where they let in a try). Ash Taylor was poor outside one nice pass on the inside that set up a try and Titans fans will be hoping this was simply a rusty return after a long break.

Interim Titans captain Proctor was decent in the first half but in the second he was invisible along with the entire Titans forward pack.

On the other side of the park the Roosters looked like a predator playing with its food as they tried interesting and different tactics every set. All the combinations are firing at the right time of year and this will be a nice boost to their points difference.

A simple game with a predictable result but nevertheless it was very enjoyable to watch a team have so much fun together and the Roosters are undeniably a premiership favourite if what we saw today was any indication. The Titans will be left soul searching before a long offseason.

The Sydney Roosters and Gold Coast Titans are set to do battle on a glorious Sunday afternoon at the famous SCG. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match, starting at 2pm AEST.

The Roosters will be looking to ensure Manly cannot catch them in the race for the top four with a strong win in this game.

The Roosters are sitting on 26 points with a healthy points difference so a big win could put them back into second spot just a little over a month before finals begin.

The Titans also have a lot to fight for but it is at the complete opposite end of the table, with the club in danger of collecting its second wooden spoon.

After a pre-season that promised so much, with Mal Meninga joining the administration, the Titans should be trying everything they can to move out of last place.

While recent history definitely favours the Sydney side, the Gold Coast do not have the worst record against the Roosters, having won almost half the fixtures since their introduction into the comp in 2007

The Roosters squad has had a major change up this week with both props, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Siosiua Taukeiaho, out due to suspension and injury respectively.

Boyd Cordner is also out with injury meaning Trent Robinson will have a very different pack when he takes on a desperate Titans team, perhaps signaling a chance of an upset.

These forced changes have levelled the playing field in the middle and this is where the key matchup will occur. If the Titans forward pack, led by an experienced Nathan Peats, can get an edge on the Roosters big men, led by a rookie in Sam Verrills, then we could have a game on our hands.

However, the Titans have time and time again given away the game with silly penalties and unforced errors and if they do that against a team featuring Cooper Cronk and Luke Keary they will pay dearly.

Prediction
Roosters will run riot as their new forwards fight to establish themselves as first graders against an uninspired Titans team.

Roosters by 22.
