NRL’s Easter Monday dawns as two struggling sides in Wests Tigers and Parramatta Eels face off at Accor Stadium in Sydney. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 4.05pm AEDT.

Lack of accountability. That is probably the best way to describe everything occurring at Tigerland from top to bottom. From CEO Justin Pascoe being in the team sheds at half time last week while being on his phone, the Tigers making a mockery of their ANZAC jersey and being 0-5 just like in 2022, is there anything going right in Tigerland?

While Tim Sheens does his best to protect his playing group in press conferences, the lack of clarity and desperation is evident in the Tigers team named for this clash. Adam Doueihi slots in at five eighth for Brandon Wakeham, while Charlie Staines moves from the wing to fullback. With a lack of games given for the spine to fire together, the Tigers are shooting themselves in the foot.

While the Eels’ record has not been much better, there is anything but panic stations being hit in Parramatta. The 2021 NRL grand finalists have had a tough draw to begin with, while also being unlucky not to have won a few more matches having competed for most of their season so far.

In team news, Shaun Lane is back from injury, while Haze Dunster and Sean Russell come into the Eels backline for Bailey Simonsson (suspension) and Waqa Blake (dropped) respectively.

Prediction

Both teams are desperate to enter the winning zone. If the Tigers start well, they are in with a shot. But the two key players who were part of the Tigers causing an upset in last year’s Easter Monday clash in Jackson Hastings (left the club) and David Nofoaluma (not in the 22 man squad) are not involved in this year’s clash. Is Api Koroisau enough to lead the Tigers to their first victory in what is going to be a highly emotional clash? My guess is no. Eels by 14.
