After Argentina’s historic victory in Christchurch last week, the All Blacks head into their rematch in Hamilton keen on revenge… but are they still capable of lifting a gear? Join The Roar for live scores from 5:05pm (AEST).

After a stunning, upset loss on home soil last week, when the Pumas had all the answers against an All Blacks team looking as beatable as at any other time in its recent history, the second in a two-match series looms as another close contest.

Ian Foster has backed his starting XV from the opening match, giving them the chance for redemption in Hamilton, with Beauden Barrett and lock Brodie Retallick added to the bench in the only significant changes made.

The All Blacks struggled in the line-outs against the disciplined Pumas and will need to be far better at the set piece if they are to reverse last week’s result and keep their chances of Rugby Championship glory alive.

Argentinian coach Michael Cheika has made light of suggestions that his squad enter the second half of the series as favourites for the title, despite the fact that they have been arguably the most consistent side thus far in the tournament.

Cheika has made four changes to the team triumphant just a week ago. Lucio Cinti drops to the bench, whilst speedster Santiago Cordero moves on to the left wing. Tomas Cubelli replaces Gonzalo Bertranou at scrum-half in a move the coach will be hoping solves some of the problems that existed in that area in Christchurch.

Santiago Grondona earns a spot at blindside flanker in place of Juan Martin Gonzalez, whilst Guido Petti and Tomas Lavanini will start in the front row, a place destined to be decisive when it comes to determining the winner of the contest.

It is difficult to see the All Blacks losing twice in succession on home soil and logic suggests they produce a far better performance tonight than the one they mustered in Christchurch.

Just as they rebounded well against the Springboks, New Zealand will find better form in a match they simply must win should they hope to claim the Rugby Championship title for 2022.

All Blacks by 13 points.
