Coming off an embarrassing home loss to the Sunwolves, the Waratahs will look to get back to winning ways when they travel to Auckland to face the Blues. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog from 5:35pm AEDT.

It’s been a weird few weeks for the Waratahs; impressively beating the Crusaders at home, before the Sunwolves gave them a reality check in Newcastle. Their ledger against New Zealand teams sits at 1-1, and an expected victory tonight would put them back on track.

The Aucklanders are on a winning streak; after dropping games to the Cantabrians, Sharks and Jaguares, they’re on a roll with victories against the Sunwolves, Highlanders and Stormers.

The two clubs have the same win-loss record, at 3-3, and fill the seventh and eighth spots on the ladder, with only six for-and-against points separating them.

With losses in their last three encounters with the Blues, the Tahs’ most recent victory against them came in 2015, when they won 23-11.

In team news: World Cup resting regulations mean Michael Hooper will sit this one out, and Kurtley Beale will drop to the bench, even as Bernard Foley takes the reins at 10.

Will Miller comes in for Hooper, and Adam Ashley-Cooper will link up with Karmichael Hunt in the centres.

For the hosts, Caleb Clarke comes in for Tanielu Tele’a and Josh Goodhue returns from his shoulder injury, taking over from Gerard Cowley-Tuioti.

A knee injury has also ruled out Sonny Bill Williams.

The key for the Waratahs will be shutting down the Blues backline. Melani Nanaimo is in a great run of form, and woe is any team who lets Rieko Ioane too much ball.

Waratahs to get the job done, but without setting the world in fire, especially given there’s no Hooper.
