Incessant rain prevented any play on the second day of the Brisbane Test, meaning both Australia and South Africa will be looking to hit the ground running come the third day of play against Australia.

We’ll bring you the live scores and commentary of the action throughout the first Test match, with the match starting at 10.30am AEDT from November 11.

It was the first time since 1983 an entire day at the Gabba was lost out due to poor weather. The rains have now cleared off with just some scattered showers still about.

The onus is on South Africa to come out all guns blazing as the visitors resume at 2/255. The Proteas had pushed themselves to a commanding position at the end of the opening day with Hashim Amla and Jacques Kallis looking to get to their respective centuries.

With a day lost, once the matter of the hundreds is out of their way, the pair could look at building the rest of the innings more briskly.

Australia will have different plans. With a new ball in their hands, the Aussie bowlers will look to eke out one, if not both the overnight batsmen pretty quickly in the first one hour. To do that, a change in length will be the order of the day.

With JP Duminy ruled out of the game, South Africa will be a batsman short and that is the one chink that Hilfenhaus, Siddle and Pattinson will look to exploit.

Weather may be an issue yet again with a fine, partly cloudy forecast with some scattered showers on Sunday which should see an exciting third day of the Test match.
