It’s a monster day of racing with five Group 1 races being held across two tracks the quality Group 1s kick off with the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) where Kermadec is a strong favourite. Join The Roar for commentary and late mail before the race start time of 3:55pm AEST.

There may only be eight runners in this field but it’s one that boast some considerable quality. Kermadec will start favourite after winning the George Main Stakes and Royal Descent backing that form up last week. Has never seen this track or distance so I have a few questions at the $2.90 quote.

Fawkner is as honest as the day is long and he was so close in the Underwood Stakes but Mourinho proved to be the thorn in his side. No question marks over the track and loves this distance. Has to be the top pick at a lovely quote of $4.50.

Criterion has just finished a spell overseas where he was competitive without finishing in the placings. Loved his Queen Elizabeth run and has placed on this track. Could be the value at $7.

Pornichet has to be considered on his form over this distance, and he wasn’t all that farm away from Kermadec in the George Main Stakes. To finish under a length behind and be triple the price in this race doesn’t seem right.

The jury is out on Contributor who just hasn’t performed so far this preparation, can’t have him on the form he has showed.

Happy Trails finished two and a bit lengths behind Preferment in the Turnbull Stakes, he was blocked for a run so maybe he could be a chance here but I just don’t have him.

Mongolian Khan finished off the Underwood well finishing in 4th. Is unbeaten when third up however that has only happened once in his career, Opie Bosson will ride and I can see him being right in this finish.
