Cycling great Anna Meares bounced back with an impressive keirin win on the second night of the International Track Series.

Meares caught Commonwealth Games teammate Stephanie Morton on the line in a talent-packed keirin final at the Adelaide Superdrome.

Thursday night’s win came a day after Meares had to battle for third place in the sprint competition.

Fellow Australian Matthew Glaetzer continues to dominate the men’s sprinting, scoring a convincing win in their keirin final.

Glaetzer, another Glasgow-bound sprinter, also stormed through the men’s sprint competition on day one and is yet to lose a heat in this five-day series.

Morton beat Meares in their round-two keirin heat, but the reigning Olympic champion in the sprint rode the final superbly.

Meares took front position from the start of the final and was well-placed with two laps left.

Morton took the lead as they hit top pace, but Meares was able to stay in second place and then caught her on the line.

Junhing Lin of China was third.

Meares said after Wednesday’s sprint competition that she is struggling physically during a heavy block of pre-Games training and was relying this week on her track craft.

No-one could catch Glaetzer after he took the lead with two laps left.

Malaysian Mohd Awang was second and compatriot Josiah Ng took third.
