Gold Coast Titans

Gold Coast TitansSince their inception to the NRL in 2007, the Cold Coast Titans have had to rely heavily on key recruits Scott Prince, Preston Campbell, Matt Rogers and Luke Bailey for results. As is the case with most new sides, injuries have derailed the Titans’ finals cause in their first two NRL seasons. In 2014 the Titans finished the regular season in 14th place.

by , 26 Feb 2015

This will be my shortest column to date on The Roar. In essence, there is not a lot to say as the matter under discussion is so basic that it requires few words. Numerous players, past and present, from NRL club the Gold Coast Titans have been implicated in drug offences – serious drug offences. […]

The NRL Gold Coast bailout: It’s about bloody time

The NRL Gold Coast bailout: It’s about bloody time

by , 26 Feb 2015

I’m totally in favour of the NRL bailout of the Titans. What I’m worried about is that the bailout won’t go far enough. To look at how the NRL should handle the Titans issue we could do far worse than to look at the approach the AFL has taken with struggling clubs. Now I know […]

We don’t need troubled Titans but we’re stuck with them

We don’t need troubled Titans but we’re stuck with them

by , 25 Feb 2015

Oh, come on David. As head honcho, you were perfectly at liberty to ride into the Gold Coast and ‘save’ the teetering Titans. But Mr Smith, you didn’t have to treat us all like chumps. Your highly publicised rescue mission on the Gold Coast on Tuesday was oh-so-obvious. It didn’t need the spin you poured […]

On Tuesday the game’s governing body stepped in, taking control and guaranteeing the club’s long-term future on the tourist strip. As the Titans reel from drug allegations surrounding five players, the club […]
