Last Saturday, at the Emirates, Arsenal played Manchester United. In the lead up to the match, Sir Alex Ferguson was so confident that he even said in front of the media that ‘technically’ they were the superior side.

But he didn’t give a reason as to why Manchester United were the better team. That’s all well and good – it’s only voicing confidence in his team, afterall – but when the game started, it was a different story altogether.

Before the match, Cristiano Ronaldo was quoted as saying, “I have my faith in Manchester United, we will win.”

Sorry, but before the season you were moaning because you wanted to move to Real Madrid.

The final score of the match was 2-1 to Arsenal, with Samir Nasri scoring twice and Rafael netting Man U’s lone goal. And guess what? United were totally outplayed.

After the match, as always when Manchester United lose, Ferguson didn’t come out to talk to the press. It was his assistant, Mark Phelan, who came out instead.

It just shows that you should be confident, but never overconfident.
