Ten-man Barcelona have qualified for the European Champions League final after Andres Iniesta’s 93rd-minute strike sealed a 1-1 draw with Chelsea to win the tie on away goals.

Chelsea took the lead after nine minutes through Michael Essien’s stunning volley and produced an disciplined display to frustrate the Catalan side, who had Eric Abidal sent off for a foul on Nicolas Anelka midway through the second half.

However, with Chelsea looking set for a meeting with Manchester United in the final, Spain international Iniesta silenced the home supporters with a powerful effort from the edge of the box.

The final whistle saw Chelsea players surround Norwegian referee Tom Overbo in scenes sure to result in action from Uefa, as they protested against his decision not to award them a late penalty.

Didier Drogba could be facing a lengthy ban from European football after angrily confronting Norwegian referee Tom Henning Ovrebo at the end of the controversial Champions League semi-final.

Chelsea had legitimate grounds for complaint after being denied at least two good penalty appeals by the referee but that will not be regarded as any excuse by UEFA when they come to judge Drogba’s conduct.

Ovrebo had to be escorted from the pitch by a platoon of stewards with Drogba apparently bent on a physical confrontation.

To compound his intimidating behaviour, the Ivory Coast international then turned to a television camera and screamed into it, describing the official as a “f*cking disgrace.”

Chelsea are also likely to be in hot water with UEFA after infuriated fans threw flags at the officials and the Barcelona bench on the final whistle.
