Adam Gilchrist will join fellow great Shane Warne in an All-Star side to play against an Australian team at the Gabba in Brisbane on November 22.

The Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA) announced on Wednesday that 37-year-old Gilchrist, who still plays for Indian provincial Twenty20 side Deccan Chargers, has made himself available for the exhibition match.

The ACA All-Stars side will be led by Warne and includes fellow World Cup winners Glenn McGrath and Matthew Hayden.

Other positions on the ACA team will go to the best-performed players in last summer’s Twenty20 Big Bash as voted for by the players, the ACA says. The All-Star line-up won’t be completed until after the Australian side is named.

Gilchrist captained the Chargers to the title in this year’s Indian Premier League T20 event in South Africa and will lead the side in the Champions League T20 tournament in India this week.

“Playing in the All-Stars game last year was a blast and I have no doubt this year’s match will be even more entertaining with the Gabba packed to the rafters,” said Gilchrist.

“The highlight of my playing career was keeping to Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath, so keeping to them again is an opportunity too good to pass up.

“Nowadays I tend to play against my former teammates, so I’m looking forward to spending time on the same team again — especially on Australian soil,” added Gilchrist, who retired from the Australian team in March 2008.

The exhibition game under lights on November 22 will be a curtain-raiser for the Australian summer of international cricket, with the first Test against West Indies starting four days later at the Gabba.

The All-Star Twenty20 match will support The Shane Warne Foundation and McGrath Foundation.
