England plans to upset Wallabies and Maori

Word leaking out of the UK is that the English rugby management feels they have a real chance to return home from Australia and New Zealand in June as winners.

They’re looking to take one of the two Tests from the Wallabies, go onto New Zealand and beat the Maoris in their one-off, and in between, come up with a win against the Australia Baa-Baas.

Say what you like – and I think you’ll have a lot to say – there’s nothing quite like confidence.

Ireland aren’t quite so cocky because not only do they play the Maori (Rotorua, June 18), but they also have a game against the mighty All Blacks six days earlier which, in their present disappointed state of mind, they won’t be looking forward to.

England will not be short of manpower if they bring a 44-man squad, as announced, comprised of the elite players and players from the Saxons.

Just who are the current Saxons?

All I’ve been able to find is this list from a few months back. A couple of players have since graduated to the Elite.

I’d appreciate it if those Roarers who are up with the English rugby scene let us know which Saxons are hors de combat and names of anybody since added.

Similarly, we’d like to know from the Kiwi folk names of players who could take the field for the Maori.

And does anybody have a handle on who’ll be playing for the Oz Baa-Baas?
